More info on the Samsung W899

Ok found out a bit more about this device. It has Wi-Fi, for anyone who was worried about that. Both the screens are not just AMOLED, but Super AMOLED WVGA screens. It's running Android 2.2, which is a surprise for a TouchWiz phone. Lastly, it's GSM and CDMA! The CDMA bands are 800 and 1900, and the GSM bands are 900, 1800 and 1900. So it'll work on Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular, Telus, and maybe a few others that I don't know about. I really want this phone now. Hopefully we can find a way to import.

My GF's step father goes out there all the time and said he is going to pick one up for me, the color is kind of unattractive but nothing that some airbrushing cant fix lol. I wonder if i should have him pick up a couple of them then sell them off.

I'm pretty sure they won't regret it, Nexus one was considered a failure from the outside world, and im sure this is the phone Google themselves asked for specs wise, and the phone they signed off on. Had they gone to any other phone maker most likely things like a lack of removeable SD card would still be there. People seem to forget that alot of these phones out there have samsung parts in them.

They may be unlocked already , and anyway out there im pretty sure you can go to most stores and they will unlock them for a couple bucks

My only question now is: Release date and pricing? Some web sites say the phone is out, others say it's "announced." As for pricing, it's got some pretty good hardware under the hood (not to mention those samoleds above the hood). It's most likely to be $540 and up off-contract or unlocked.

Holy butt monkeys,,,,i had my friend look it up on some website she uses she said it was 15000rb which roughly comes out to $ 2200 and some change.....

im not sure if her calculations are off or what. but nevermind lol i mean i expected this thing to be at most 700; but 2200 . please i can buy 6 galaxy S phones on craigslist and buy some hinges throw them together and Wala!!

To the price: Holy.... I mean the price would go down a bit due to economic situations in our country (assuming you're in the states) and China, but... I never imagined that much.

No problem, i think it is a supply and demand thing also it has 2 superAMOLED screens vs just 1 that alone makes it expensive to make.

Yeah that's true, I didn't even think about the 2-amoled screen thing. probably bumps up the price quite a bit. though I wouldn't think $2,000, but, y'know...lol but yeah, keep us posted. And I'll check back here often as we learn more about the phone.
