Most Stable 2.3 ROM

In your opinion, what is the most stable Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) ROM for the Verizon Fascinate that's currently out? I'm looking to flash my phone, but there are so many options I'm not sure where to start.

If someone could point me in the direction of a ROM that won't make my data or GPS wonky, I would be greatly appreciative.

Thanks,

If I had reason to start over I'd definitely go with SuperClean, but as it is I'm running PWGB and it's as stable as a horse farm. I almost wish it would give me some problems so I 'd have motivation to try out SuperClean.

Of course stability will also greatly depend on your kernel. I am very happy with the 1.52 lean kernel, but if stability is your #1 motivation then perhaps a simple and basic kernel would be best.

What are people's thoughts on the most stable kernel for a rom such as SC3?

I tried KGB Kernel by comradesven and Stock Kernel, and stock works best on my phone with SC3 as far as stability.

I was running lean kernel 2.01 with superclean when it was first released. It was very stable, albeit a little laggy at times, but I had outrageously good battery life. I switched to KGB 12/02 and now 12/12 simply to screw around with it and play with zram, callboost, etc. I'm slightly overclocked, but not undervolted at all, and I haven't messed around with any schedulers.

When on froyo I could never run any of the voltage control kernels. I would get sod's even if not undervolted. On GB SC v3.05 the KGB kernel has been stable, zram has eliminated ALL lag and callboost has finally fixed the low in call volume I've always had. The battery life is so much better than anything I was used to on froyo. Lean kernel was the best for battery life on my phone, but as long as i can go the whole day, using my phone the way I need to use it, without the need to plug it in, then I'm happy. KGB has provided that, and more.

Just out of curiosity, is lean kernel 1.52 the best version? I flashed the lasted 2.01 when I discovered it without knowing any better.

2.01 worked just fine for me, but it broke my ability to record and playback video. When that's cleared up I'll be happy to try his newest version 1.52 is just solid for me right now (agreed on the battery life of lean kernel)

I tried TKS or KGB and while earlier versions didn't work out well for me the latest couple version seem very nice - however, afaik they caused the soft key lights to always be on which makes reading in bed near impossible so that's a non-starter (till that's cleared up).

This would be my recommendation as well. You will already need to be running a GB rom before you can flash SuperClean. I would recommend following the procedure in THIS POST FROM XDA. It has links to everything that you'll need to download and flash.

Would the procedure you referenced on xda apply for me? I'm still on a SC2.8 and really wanting to switch to GB.

Also, what is atlas_v2.2.pit?

Thanks for the help.

Yes, it would apply to you as well. I used that procedure when I went to Gingerbread from Froyo Com Rom. The atlas v2.2.pit file is used in odin to repartition your phone's internal memory and it tells the phone where to put which files in which part of the partition.

You could go to manage applications and clear cache and try to launch it again. If that doesn't work try uninstalling the gmail app and re-downloading again from the market.

Just upgraded to 2.3.5 this weekend !!!

Thanks to all for the great instructions, my phone has never performed better !!!

I've never rooted but would like to go with SuperClean. Are there current step-by-step instructions (for Gingerbread v2.3.5) anywhere using a Mac instead of a PC?

Thanks.
