Moto 360: Android 5.1.1 Update

Anyone else just get an update to Android Wear? I didn't have any AW updates last night, but today there was one. Didn't really call out that it was for bug fixes or anything.

Yes, I got one about an hour ago. Hadn't gotten the watch system update yet at the time, but got the notice on my watch not long after installing the update on my phone! (Have to get home and charge up before I can install it).

I do wonder if BOTH the phone and watch needs to be on WiFi, or if the phone can just be on Mobile Data and the watch on a WiFi and still get notified of stuff. That'd be cool.

For that to work, it would require a LOT of fancy routing by servers and traversing firewalls and all kinds of strange barriers. I don't think it works that way at all. The two just try to find and talk to each other on the same local network.

UPDATE: And yet others have reported that it can be on different networks and does the magic through Google servers. I wouldn't quite know, because the WiFi stuff is so unreliable on mine, it is really hard to test. And because it keeps shutting off WiFi for no valid reason with a power warning, even if I have as much as 55% remaining!

Last phone Wear update on mine was 4 days ago 1.1.1.2016316... wait, now it says updated today. I didn't update it today, and it is not auto updating. When I looked at it a few minutes ago it clearly was the 18th. I am confused.

Anyway, what we need is another update to the WATCH, because the last update is full of bugs. I can name three really bad ones and I don't even mess with it a lot... (Contacts have screwed up descriptions of numbers, WiFi shuts off saying to reserve power when the watch has way over 50% charge, when you tell it to keep WiFi on anyway like it asks it turns it off again, WiFi connection is unreliable)

My watch acted like it was connected on distant networks - two very different WiFi networks, miles away . . . I guess we'll all know just how it really works in due time, soon enough, I reckon.
