I don't think it's a Motorola issue, it looks like an Android Wear issue. My LG G3 and G Watch have started having the same problem.
I don't often use Maps for navigating as I have a separate TomTom when driving, but when I had an issue with it a week or so back, I used my phone instead. My G Watch died after less than three hours on the road.
So I blocked Maps via the Android Wear app and tried again on the return journey the next day; exactly the same, G Watch died in less than 4 hours.
Something isn't right, but not sure what as I didn't have this issue a few months back.
