moto 360 crack

My first purchase lasted two months before I needed to exchange it because of the crack near the spring. Now it happened again. I think I will just get another smart watch.

About a month ago, my 360 cracked so bad that the step counter wasn't working anymore. Motorola replaced it for free but they were out of the silver watch, so they sent me the black one. I don't really like the black one so I think I'll list it on swappa and replace it with another android wear watch.

My first one cracked after about 7 months, and the replacement cracked after 5 months (both with stock leather bands). Pretty surprising given I have a desk job, and I try to baby my devices. Multiple levels of Motorola support suggested I send them my watch plus $100 for a replacement. I pointed out cracked back threads on this and other sites, but they weren't interested.

Turns out the replacement watch came with only a 90 day warranty.

I didn't want to pour more money into a design that clearly has an issue. I'll milk this watch until the crack causes a failure.

I do know this - my next smartwatch will not be a Motorola.

The good news is I have a original moto 360 purchased on day one (launch day) that also has cracks in the underside, but has yet to cause a failure. The watch still works just fine, so hopefully yours will hold up as well.

So I noticed that my back had cracked about a month ago (2nd 360, the power button gave out on my original one). I have the Motorola black, metal band. Mine didn't crack near the band though. It's inside the "feature" ring... It's not gotten any bigger (I have no idea how it happened. I'm pretty careful with it), so it doesn't bother me too much. What does bother me is that the plastic insert that you have to install with the metal band is cracked and falling out on one side. Does anyone know if there's a way to get just the plastic pieces? I'd rather not spend $80 on another band. Actually, if someone makes metal replacements, that'd be even better probably.

That plastic piece has been the source of many failures I've seen and is a big reason I haven't purchased one. I don't know of any "official" replacement plastic piece, but maybe a 3D printer has been tinkering... I'd check Shapeways.com for that.

Since you've already spent your $80 on that band though, I'd definitely get in touch with Motorola and see what they can do for you. I'm positive this isn't the first plastic insert failure they've heard of, so hopefully they have a set procedure on how to deal with these instances.

If you ever decide to use a different band, check out the SteelConnect M adapters here: http://www.steelconnect.co/

Best of luck

Just discovered mine is cracked. Was applying a screen protector to it and saw the crack. Not sure what I can do about it given it was a (used) gift from my brother-in-law last year. I don't know if I qualify for replacement directly from Moto or if I'd need to go through my brother-in-law.

It's a pretty bad crack, too. On the flat tire side of the watch, a full semicircle looks like it's one good bump from coming off entirely.

They are a bit pricey but we'll worth it.

I actually did end up getting a set of Steel Connect adapters and a new band from SurvivalStraps.com.

Two minor issues with this watch band:

1. The band covers the heart rate sensor (I don't use it but some might).

2. Also blocks charging. I put a quick release pin in so I can easily remove the band for charging.

Thanks. They have an absolute ton of color combinations available. Also a couple different options for buckles. And there's about 15 feet of 550lb paracord if you need it in an emergency.

Best part is if you use it in an emergency, you just send them pics and an explanation of how you used it, they'll send you a replacement for free.
