Moto 360 Disable screen while charging?

From the developer
" Description
*You must open the app at least once on your watch after installing for it to work.*

Does your Android Wear device's always on feature make it difficult for you to sleep? This simple app shows a black screen while your watch is charging, which allows you to sleep undisturbed, without bright lights from your watch keeping you awake. Simply install the app and set your device in its charger, and the screen will remain dark until you pick the watch up again or tap the screen. Enjoy!"

I figured out how to do this tonight. Set your watch to theater mode first and then place on charger. The clock shows up for a second and then it turns off the display completely.

I'm on LWX48T. I charge my phone on my nightstand every night using the stock Qi charger. I've tried all of the different methods suggested previously (toggling Ambient Screen on/off using Android Wear app, installing Slumber app, changing developer mode settings, turning power off before placing in cradle, using Theater Mode) and at least for me, the screen always ultimately ends up in a very dimly lit blank state (without the clock/charge amount circle display showing). It is so dimly lit that it isn't discernible unless you are in a completely dark room. I currently use the Theater Mode On setting and when I place the watch in the cradle, for a split second the clock/charge amount display will light up and then the screen will go completely dark. However, after either a few seconds or sometimes up to a couple of minutes, the display comes on again, but in the very dimly lit blank screen state. Test this out in a completely darkened room and I'll bet many of you who think your display is completely off will find otherwise.

Re: Disable screen while charging?

Turn ambient mode off and the screen will turn off when charging.
There is a much easier way.
If you turn the THEATER MODE on on the watch the screen will not light up unless the side button is pushed. I.e. while chargeing even

I just simply double tap the side button while charging. That automatically enables theater mode and turns screen off. I've seen one user on Facebook showing screen burn in on charging meter. After that I got scared and always turn my night clock off while charging.

Solution:

1: Pull down on the main clock face
2: Swipe to the the left and turn on "Theater Mode"

Or you can just hit the button twice to enter theater mode on or off. Three times for sunlight mode. Hold for settings. That said this thread was started on a much older version of AW so doesn't really apply anymore.

I haven't tried this yet, but my understanding was that turning on Theater Mode (e.g. by double-pressing the physical button on the watch) would keep the display off while charging. I'm not near my charger right now or I'd try it--can someone confirm?

Just got my 360 in the mail today, and I'm done fiddling with it and dropped it on the charger so it's ready to go in the morning. However, earlier when I was charging it enough to play around, I feel like the screen turned off while it was charging. Now, the screen is lit but very dim. It might have been on earlier and I didn't notice because the lights were on, though. As I was planning on putting the charger on my bedroom dresser, and I try to keep my room as absolutely dark as possible (chronic insomnia), this is a bit annoying. I don't really mind draping something over it in the mean time, but I just can't find any way or an option to disable the screen while charging.

Anyone found the same thing? Discovered a solution? Or is this a feature request to make to Motorola/Android Wear team?

My fix is as follows:

1. Go into developer options (if you don't know how, Google it)
2. The first option should be: 'Keep screen on when charging'. It should be disabled. Set it to Enabled.

I know it's exactly the opposite as to what we want to achieve, but just do it!
Don't let your dreams be dreams!

3. Back out of dev options
4. Profit (+sleep)

Hope that helps!😀

Thats seem a bit bizarre, like you said, back to front, but will try it out tonight. Have you found any battery hit?

I found two Very Simple Solutions:
1: Double tap the Home Button of the watch before charging it (actvates Cinema Mode)
2: Download slumber for Android wear.

You're Welcome, sleep well!
