Moto display not re-flashing notifications

[AC Question]

I got the X play weeks back. Although somewhat disappointed with the huge size but very competent camera, i'll get to the case.

Moto Display- I remember using active notifications on Moto X 1st gen, they would contantly re-appear if not swiped left or right. On X play it's only when you pick up the phone, the display flashes for the notifications.

I believe Moto Display not working as it should, is there any update am missing?
