Moto g v first gen moto g v used nexus 4

My mother needs a new phone, and set me £150 for the budget, which coincides with the moto! Anyway I read there's no performance upgrade from the first gen so why would I not get a used first gen moto or nexus 4?

For the better camera and bigger screen, presumably. If I were you, I'd pick between the Moto Gs. The N4 had a weak battery to start with, and if you buy it used she's probably going to have to deal with it dying before she's done with it.

Thanks. So the nexus 4's higher specs are not relevant? I'll go compare the cameras on the motos.

the new Moto G is much better than the nexus 4. Also the new moto g has better camera.
as far as software support go the 2014 might get Android M but the old one wont get it

It depends what kind of user your mother is. The Moto G will work fine for most applications. Only things like hardcore gaming and heavy multitasking really test the limits of a device's hardware.

Get her the 2014 moto G and be done with it. She'll love it.

The only reasons I'd tell someone not to get the new Moto G over the old Moto G are size and LTE. If the bigger form factor and lack of LTE are acceptable, go with the 2014 model.

I have used all those phones, I recommend the Moto G 2014, but the old Moto G LTE will also suffice if she prefer smaller device and slightly longer battery life compared to the new Moto G. The Nexus 4 is really out of the question even though it's the most powerful hardware of them all, most people can't get very good battery life with it and if you buy it now it probably mean you're getting a used one with less than new battery. Also the screen on the Nexus 4 have poor contrast and look washed out, not as good compared to the new Moto G 2014. Also it's rear speaker is horrible, the signal quality is average. I do have a sweet spot for that phone, I love the design, but there are better choices now.
