Moto X+1 May Not Have Stereo Speakers

I'm perfectly fine with the back mono speaker on the OG Moto X. It's plenty loud enough for my needs and I have no need for stereo sound on a smartphone. Putting the mono speaker on the front just makes the chin of the phone bigger which I see as a negative.

Front stereo > Front mono > Rear mono.
I'm skeptical if the front stereo speaker of the Moto G is actually higher quality sounding (see: not the same as louder) than the Moto X.

My OnePlus have dual mono speaker, but its not exactly great sounding at loud volume.

It's pretty loud (and supposedly has sensors to make it as loud as possible depending on atmospheric conditions) but I frequently find myself cupping the phone to increase the volume and audio quality. It's just embarrassing these days and I'm glad Motorola fixed it. I don't think I care about stereo speakers (I've never had them), but it's annoying that the "low-end" device received most of the good features[1]. I'm sure the Moto X sounds better, but, irrationally, it bothers me that Motorola chose to do so.

[1] Moto X did get IR sensors that recreate a feature that works great without them on the Moto X (the hand wave). They are supposed to help reduce battery life for the facial recognition feature, as well, but I don't understand why Samsung and Motorola think that keeping the phone on while I'm not interacting with it is a problem that needed solving.

You're only going to get so much out of those small speakers regardless. That being said, ff you have front stereo speakers, at least you get a LITTLE separation, which can at least help with light gaming. Barring that, if one has only a single speaker, better it be firing AT you than away from you.
