moto x+1 unveiled Sept 4th???

Re: Motorola Event

So are those who were invited to the presser event held to a gag order until the public event tomorrow?

Re: No public news on X+1 until tomorrow 9/5 (possibly 1:30pm CDT)

I agree. It's as if they only released the hangouts link after hearing from the disappointed voice of ones who are purchasing, fans such as ourselves.

But what was done was done. It's not going to change anything this time around, maybe next. Let's wait and see what goes on tomorrow.

Maybe. You and I can't be sure. To me, it sounds like the Hangout was always the original plan. Motorola seems to be leaning towards more interaction with consumers via social channels, especially Google+. I think this is the fourth or fifth Hangout since the original Moto X launch and most of the Hangouts took the time to answer questions from people like you and me.

"TK Tech reported that the Moto X+1 (X2) is coming 26 September. According to the site, in the US the Moto X 16GB will cost just $199 (plus tax) via Moto Maker for one day only on 6 September. The coupon code is 26sept, because this is the day Motorola will unveil the Moto X+1. The site also leaked the Moto X+1 photos and video used to illustrate this article. Condescending? Just clarifying. According to your posts, Motorola is stupid because they're choosing to do what they want to do rather than what you want them to do. Is there something I'm missing?

HTC basically uses the strategy you want, even with "controlled leaks". Then they have a big public event for the launch. Yet, it doesn't lead to Apple and Samsung numbers.
What I "want" them to do has nothing to do with it. There are 3 threads on this one site filled with people asking when the event was. And the details on the hangouts session tomorrow and plan for official details is sketchy at best. These are pretty heavily anticipated products. Face it. Moto's PR/ad department screwed up.

Maybe they will make it right tomorrow...

..it was never meant to be the way you wanted it to be.

I never said that I wanted it to be any specific way. It doesn't really matter to me what or how they announce devices. I even said that my disappointment was purely based on my assumptions and nothing to do with Moto. What I was trying to point out that I believe that this way of doing things is a missed opportunity for them. But management teams make the decisions that they make. However, knowing that the Lenovo deal hasn't closed yet, makes much more sense. I am sure that all sorts of spending is on hold or frozen until the deal gets done which probably includes marketing. I will be interested to see how, if at all, their marketing changes when they have Lenovo's deeper pockets.

I agree with you. I clearly remember you and I were both in a hangout with moto when they were talking about the 360 and left us with some hints. And, the social media approach is definitely welcome. However, to leave the one who is ultimately going to trade their $$$ for moto's product(s), they could have at least orchestrated is better.

I ask myself, is the press event for the press, or is it ultimately for who it should be for, us, the end users, the ones with the dough. The way they constructed/advertised it makes it looks like they built the devices for the press. But really, we all know that it matters more to us than to joe blow will walk into a store and buy the phone the rep tells them to.

Either way, right/wrong/this/that - I'll admit this is helping the time pass faster!! :-D

I don't think it's about deeper pockets. Motorola is currently a Google company. Google has some pretty deep pockets.

I'll be 100% honest with you, I had no clue the G was already water resistant. I didn't remember them advertising it that way when it came out. But could be because I didn't put much into reviews of this phone as it was not on my radar.

Moto G is advertised having a water repellent coating. Moto G by Motorola

I think the Moto X has it too. The Moto E has it. The 2013 DROID line has it.

Not waterproof. I don't think it's advertised as water resistant. Maybe "splash-proof"?

Re: Motorola Event

I think that it was clear the day they sent the invites to the press because its exactly what happened last year. I asked how people could attend and they said invite only.

Re: Motorola Event

There is lots of talk about the X+1 and the 360, but hardly any talk about a Maxx replacement. I'm going to be upset if there isn't a new Maxx announced. There was the MotoMaxx name, but that's the only thing we've heard about it. And, I too kept checking my phone all day to see what happened at the event. I found a live blog from the event on theverge.com and after reading a ways through it realized I was reading the event from the day the RAZR Maxx was released. So much for that idea...

There's belief that the Droid Turbo will be Verizon's exclusive device which should include a Maxx varient if the standard does have the extended battery. we shall see.

Samsung Galaxy S5 (Verizon)

Pretty stoked to see what they announce! Gotta work early may have to wait till morning to see what it is.😪

So they came out with the X, G and 360. No turbo/max option????? Is there still more to come?
