Re: Moto X+1 on Moto website!

Looks like the screen is bigger. That's good. I feel like the OG Moto X was just a bit too small for my tastes.

All this leakage leads me to believe there is a good chance we get info on may 13 for the X+1.

What exactly does applying for a credit account entitle to? Apologies but I'm not entirely experienced in that area, but I'm guessing it's enough so you can't easily get a free device?

Just means you get a monthly bill.

That picture is of the Moto X we have now...

Unlikely. Motorola has stated that the follow up will be announced in late summer. I doubt we'll hear anything until at least July.

Re: Moto X+1 on Moto website!

Who knows. Companies don't usually start loading there websites with place holders and such if something is months away.

Remember how the Nexus 5 was leaked for months? Yeah, placeholders don't mean anything as far as time frame. It'll come when it comes.

Feature Speculations.

I know some want the Moto X to go all phablet size and there those who want it to stay in a good size range so we can still use it one handed, I say why not compromise? I think a bigger screen is possible. But the Size can still be the same. This brings in more fans and keeps the old.

I also say that the Moto X+1 has a micro SD card slot. I will be severely disappointed if it does not, every other flagship has one, Moto can too.

Active Display and Touchless Controls stays. These features are yet to be copies well on other devices.

Keep it simple. The minimalism of the Moto X software should stay.

Tweak a few more in house apps. Assist has the ability to be SmartActions, add more profiles! Motorola Migrate also needs to be tweaked.

In all honesty if they kept a 720p screen I would be fine. But they'll get 1080p.

What features do you guys want most on the X+1?

Re: Feature Speculations.

I could understand a slight increase in size, but not much. The current size for me, is the sweet spot.

Leave the SD card out, but minimum 32 GB, with optional 64, and not a carrier exclusive 64 GB. 64 for anyone.

I agree Active display and Touchless Control are what makes the X a force to be reckoned with.

Screen type similar to Nexus 5.

Re: Feature Speculations.

Screen size the same, but 1080p.

Keep the software mostly the same, with whatever improvements make sense.

Keep the size/shape similar. The X has the best in hand feel IMO.

I'd be ok with an SD card slot since official support is back with Kit Kat. Would still like 32GB storage to be the minimum so that I would have the choice to use the SD card or not. 16GB built in doesn't give me enough space to install the apps and pin Music the way I want.

Re: Feature Speculations.

I say same screen size, maybe 4.9 if they can keep the size the same. Don't mind 720 but would prefer a slightly higher resolution. As long as PPI is over 350ish.

No SD but I'm with Golfdriver in that 32GB should be standard.

Improve the camera!

Re: Feature Speculations.

  • I think I could live with it growing a little, but I also agree it's in a great form right now.
  • I'd like to see an increase in battery size (assuming space considerations etc). They've already nailed battery life, build on that.
  • Leave the SD card out IMO; I agree with @Golfdriver97 that 32 and 64GB options would be cool. While Kit-Kat made SD cards more safe, it did nothing to address the performance issues and actually introduced more roadblocks that are not user intuitive. It also doesn't address the problem of paying Microsoft to license something that the phone just flat out doesn't need to have to be great.
  • I'd kinda like to see Touchless Controls become more conversational. Obviously it has to utilize Google Now, but there are some quirks already that differentiate and those could be expanded in a tasteful way. If there is a way to keep the same or better battery life while providing Active Notifications on an IPS, do it. Otherwise, the AMOLED on the X is fine, and I also assume they're going to bump resolution - not sure if they need to or not, guess it kinda depends on the screen size.
  • Camera. Spend some time here.
  • I'd like to see the backs become interchangeable like the Moto G. I'd love to be able to buy 5-6 different colored backs and change them whenever I want to. But please, please, please, do NOT make the battery removable UNLESS you're not going to provide wireless charging. As expressed on other devices, I'd rather have the technology that can be used to min/max space/performance bet capitalized on, not thrown out for the sake of swapping out. We should be in a place battery-wise where no one is worried about the charge taking them from rise and shine to bed time - and if we're not, fix the problem, don't bandaid it.

Re: Feature Speculations.

Theoretically, if they increased the horizontal of the screen by 1/16" push into each side bezel (1/8" total) and 1/9" push into the top and bottom bezels (2/9" total) - that would keep the 16:9 ratio correct and give us a net diagonal increase of about .2550" (round to 1/4") for a 4.95" screen. IMO that screen would be perilously prone to cracks, etc. but we could theoretically keep the same form factor with a 4.9", 4.95" or 5.0" screen.

Re: Feature Speculations.

I believe the size will stay consistent or maybe a tiny bit bigger because one of their emphasis on the moto x was a phone that fits. I dont mind the 720p at all. Screenshot 2014-05-10 at 22.32.41.png
Keep the curve design with the dimple.
I really doubt a micro SD card slot but surprise me motorola.
Camera should have an improvement.
More colors! and different parts to color. Maybe the sides can be a different color or have different patterns
Touchless Controls be a bit faster...
Battery life. WAY longer battery life. Somehow house a 3000mAh battery? please?

(I dont own the phone, my gf does... I converted her from Iphone 5 to the moto x and she loves it ahahah)

Re: Feature Speculations.

The thing about it is while KitKat does not have the SD card functionality like previous Android version does, at least you have the option to have a Micro SD card or not. Since I have been relegated to my RAZR M from my Moto X I did not realize how cool is it to have a card again. Moving media and keeping media off of the internal storage and having hard copies right there when you need it, data available or not is very valuable.

I agree the size is without a doubt a very valuable thing. Maybe they can bump up the resolution without an increase in size.

I forgot about battery, I'm guessing they can optimize it better for more resolution so it does not affect battery life really.

Re: Feature Speculations.

The Moto X is already feature rich, what I can see as an improvement is more battery, same screen size and external card support or internal 64 gb.
For me that would be quite a deal.

P.S.-A improved camera 12 or maybe 16 but better then the current one.

Re: Feature Speculations.

They will probably go slightly larger, but I hope not all the way to 5.2" as rumored. My bet would be on 1080.

I'm betting on SD800 Soc, but would love to see an 805.

There will be no SD slot, its still designed under google and google hates SD slots.

Camera will be slightly improved. I hope for a larger sensor and larger pixels, but won't hold my breath.

Ram - 2GB, hope for 3

Would like to see a larger battery and targeting 2 days of use.

Re: Feature Speculations.

I think they should make it 4.8-5 in screen(1080p). As for me, I just want the rumored phablet version of this phone.

I don't think they can go 5" without the phone feeling significantly larger than the Moto X. They might as well go 5.2" or higher.

Give me PPI in the 300 range (+/- 25). Keep it AMOLED for the Active Display.

I won't mind it as much if they had multiple size models, like what they did with the DROID MINI/ULTRA/MAXX.

I don't want an SD card slot. I have multiple battery packs so a removable battery is not important for me.

For me, keep the same philosophy and don't get suckered into specs for the sake of specs and features for the sake of features.
