Re: Possible Moto X successor spotted in benchmarks!

Does the fact that this is is running 4.4.3 make the whole thing more likely to be fake. I thought google didn't give out advanced versions.

Re: Possible Moto X successor spotted in benchmarks!

5.2 inch screen? That instantly killed all the hope I had for this phone. Let`s hope the new iPhone isn`t too big or they have a good Droid Mini successor because I refuse to get a big phone.

Motorola makes the Moto G in a GPe version. They'll officially get early access. Just like Samsung (Galaxy S4 GPe, Nexus 10), HTC (One GPe, One M8 GPe), and LG (Nexus 4, Nexus 5, G Pad 8.3 GPe).

Re: Possible Moto X successor spotted in benchmarks!

I would like to see Motorola keep the 4.7" display for the Moto X line. If they wish to come out with different devices that have a variety of screen sizes, that's great. But I want an option with a smaller display. And honestly, I would prefer they keep it at 720p, but I know that's never going to happen.

I imagine that any new Moto X phone will utilize the same X8 chip architecture used in the original, right? Is there any reason to think that the new phone would get firmware updates for things like Touchless Control that we WOULDN'T have access to on the original Moto X? Because if Motorola is dead-set on going bigger, I'd prefer to just keep my old phone, and hopefully, continue getting useful updates.

Re: Possible Moto X successor spotted in benchmarks!

I think if moto goes above 5" for their flagship phone, LG will eat them for lunch, especially with the redesigned LG UI that leaked for the G3. LG already beats moto in screen quality, camera and battery life, and smallest bezels. Size is the last differentiator for moto

LG and Motorola have two different subsets of fans. LG has been making more power used devices. Motorola has been making jack of trades master of none devices that are also affordable and have wide availability. Moto X and G are available anywhere (all carriers) and available for ~$350 online while the G2 is over $400+ and is tied to carriers.

I, too, hope the X will become part of a family of 3 or 4 phones - each designed for a particular taste.

I will have to hold the new X before I can judge it. At first I was turned off by the size, but I realized I do use my phone out in the field daily to view and edit Google spreadsheets -- a larger screen might actually be useful to me. Add in the fact that it's an X with all the X awesome features ... might be a winner for me.

Now, if I am forced to buy the phone through Verizon on contract, no sale. No way.

I doubt they will use x8. The always listening features and low power monitors are baked into the SD800+. So why add two extra chips.

Better power consumption and its better to use what they already know and have.

Sorry but no one is forced to buy a phone on contract through Verizon.

I have a friend who tested the Snapdragon 801 and is excited that the OnePlus One is the first to use that voice feature natively. He was bummed when I told him the Moto X did it with an S4 Pro and their own listening core.

Re: Possible Moto X successor spotted in benchmarks!

Why can't moto release multiple screen sizes? If you guys like the x maybe you should hope the company is successful. A 5" x doesn't prevent another 4.7 from coming 6 months or a year later? Plus your current x won't die when the 5 inch gets released

How about a large phone/small phone release cadence switching every year? Every two years everyone gets a new phone I the size they want. Or maybe they release them all near the same time... Who knows but quit the apocalypse complaints :)

Re: Possible Moto X successor spotted in benchmarks!

Lets keep in mind if your thinking of selling your device and doing so in the forums please follow the rules and post it in the Marketplace forums.

Thanks.

I wasn't meaning to violate any rules. I was partially being a smartass and partially being serious. If I do sell it it will probably be on Craigslist anyway. I've had really good luck with that with my past devices.

Seriously. Those two companies are not going for the same crowds of people. LG wants in on the Samsung specwhore, gross UI crowd. Motorola is pitching toward a completely different audience. If anything, they're trying to be more of a Nexus-like alternative.

Re: Possible Moto X successor spotted in benchmarks!

Awwww man - the size of the Moto x was one of the things that made it stand out for me in the first place - in a good way. If I want a big screen for whatever, I have a mini-tablet for that. I guess it was inevitable, though, since even Apple is moving in the "bigger is better" direction. Regardless, I know I'm still going to want the X2 or X+1 or whatever it's finally called.

Ha it was a rhetorical question. Of course they can put put multiple size x's. People need to relax!

All if this is probably some kid messing with his build.prop file.

Re: Possible Moto X successor spotted in benchmarks!

If they can keep it VERY close to the same size the X is now, this will be an awesome device. I hope they bring Leather backs with its introduction.
