Moto X 2014 Post your end of day battery screen shots

Re: Post your end of day battery screen shots

This phone has the ability to show percentages of battery life also? I missed that feature when getting rid of my GS3. It's not something anyone else probably cares about but I really did like it. I just saw someone's screenshot had it in there. Would be nice to have back.
I use this one: Battery Percent for KitKat / L
kroegerama. Probably other apps out there that does the same.

Very happy with this. 4 hours of SOT, about an hour of streaming podcasts, all on LTE without wifi.

SO... this is basically 12hours with LTE only, AND 4 hours screen on time? Pretty impressive... That's like me being in the city all day, or at an amusement park w/ no wifi, and it surviving 12 hours? I am liking those odds.

SO... are the battery results that everyone is using on tech reviews wrong? This seems great to me...

Re: Post your end of day battery screen shots

also,

Got the phone 2 days ago and started at 100% this morning. Screen brightness at AUTO. Went on a four hour bike ride using Strava. End of my day.

what do you recall your battery % to be after the 4 hour run? Cuz I am a long distance runner, and I know that by tracking my runs, it is a HUGE hit on the battery. VERY impressed that you didn't need to charge your phone after the 4 hour bike ride!!! I have a samsung galaxy s3 now, and it's going downhill fast, battery wise. I already charge it 2 times a day. not fun.

They're not wrong exactly, just not a very good representation of "real world" usage. They compare to benchmarks and self-made testing like looping a video for several hours. This is why I for the most part do not rely on these and wait for actual user reviews. But that's just me. ;)

I was testing the gps run times and accuracy along with my Garmin 500 and the iPhone 6. I was surprised that the X was around 62% left and the iPhone 68%. A friend had come by and I showed him the gps tracks and commented on the battery run times. I know some folks use airplane mode to conserve battery life but I would rather carry a small battery pack than do that if I was running out before a ride ended. With these new phones I don't see a problem with gps use and battery life.

Here's the gps traces comparing the three devices that I posted on another thread:

The first 5% and the last ~7% were on wifi because of tasker turning it on when I get home (my mistake on saying no wifi!). Other than that, almost all that screen time was on LTE and thats not including about an hour of streaming podcasts while driving.

Re: Post your end of day battery screen shots

Hmmm, the results at posts 31 and 42 are pretty different from each other...

Not all situations are going to be the same. There are a lot of factors that are in play. Signal strength, apps installed, etc. Results will vary by phone and user, and the combo of both.

All true. Still, 14:38hrs with 31% remaining vs. 11:01hrs with just 1% remaining is a pretty big difference, especially since they have identical SOT's and screen % usages. Extrapolate out the former and that's almost 20hrs on a charge and over 5.5hrs SOT.

It depends on what you're doing when your screen's on. If you're playing a graphic-heavy game as opposed to reading an e-book where it's set to a black background then your on-screen time will be way different.

Re: Post your end of day battery screen shots

Are there any reviews yet of the Turbo Charger, either official publication or forum feedback?

I've got one on order. The phone honestly doesn't take that long to charge, but to have a charger that can charge it that fast was too hard to resist.

Keep in mind the phone is AMOLED. So select pixels can light when needed. If one used apps with mostly dark or even Black background colors there would be less drain on the battery over the same period of time.

EDIT: Just saw effreyj posted a similar comment.

Please do post results/experience with it. I think it's a very interesting accessory! I'm hoping there will be a dock of some sort that can offer the same thing!

Also, LTE is supposed to drain faster?

what would you guys say would be like, your "stand by" drainage? Like, you go to work and don't touch it at all for a few hours. How many percent an hour?

I'm following that thread too! Very cool findings! I ran my ultra marathon with a portable battery pack attached to my waist! ;)

An interesting topic - and WHY are we doing this? Because we don't want to believe all the reviews that tell us the battery life is not up to par with other similar tier 1 smartphones (I read / hear (video) that at the end of the day we'll all be looking for AC outlets to charge - depending of course on our daily usage). We need to prove all the reviews were wrong! So come on, I too, really wanted the New Moto X, and am having real second thoughts due to the battery, display, no SD card, and on and on. Perhaps we there are enough people that post great numbers here, we'll all think all the reviews are wrong. What we don't see, is the reviewers have access to all phones, and they can compare equally. We have 1-2-3 phones to compare to, and most likely they are different phones. Yes, I'm now looking at the S5, and the iPhone 6. I'd really like to stick with Android, but I need to purchase the phone that's best to me, considering all factors. I don't think the new moto X is the one for me. IF ONLY... a better battery, a better camera, an SD card for storage - this would be a great phone!

A lab test does not reflect the average user's real world choices (such as choosing to dismiss notifications, game play, gps, etc.). It's not a matter of disproving a review, but supplementing what we all know with a real world test of the efficiencies built into the X for normal usage. Specs on paper are not everything, as the iPhone (with 2012 Nexus specs) shows.

The iPhone doesn't have a SD card, bigger battery. And yes the camera is better. 1,800 roughly for battery and runs a dual core with 1gb of ram.

I like the phone but the moto x isn't very far off. I have used the iPhone 6 and 5s almost exact same camera less one feature.

Have a moto x its great, works for me but maybe not all users. Just stating the facts
