Moto X 2014 Post your end of day battery screen shots

Re: Post your end of day battery screen shots

you are correct Sir - my apologies

I get my X tomorrow and will be back on a stock non-rooted device too. I overlooked that it needs root. A very good friend of mine recommended the app (he's rooted too), and so I just installed without even reading the info, installed on my tablet too.
Kind of bummer I won't be able to use it - a real nice way to see what's waking up the device.

oh well - let's hope lollipop will fix your phone's problem
Root doesn't seem to be an issue.

Legendarydog,

That's exciting looking. Is it like that all the time?

What's with all the notification bar items? I might look there as a starting point to identifying the battery thirsty culprit.

This^^^, plus...

Your phone is awake quite a bit for only an hour and 45 minutes of screen time. I've never had a anti-virus on my phone so I have no idea what to expect on battery usage with them. Is there a reason why you have Lookout installed? Just curious.

I guess I overlooked some quite obvious things. I will monitor notifications and evaluate what I don't need by either deleting apps and/or turning off certain notifications. As for lookout, I guess I've just used it for an extra layer of protection, but maybe android OS has antivirus built in already? I uninstalled it for now, seeing as it was using a good chunk of battery. I realized that I never really used it and it was just something in the background. I was just used to having it installed since when I owned the DINC, lol.

"Your phone is awake quite a bit for only an hour and 45 minutes of screen time." Can you rephrase that?

Thanks guys! I will post an update.

If you compare the graph of the screen and the 'awake' you notice the 'awake' is shaded more. Something is keeping your phone awake after you use it. It's not horrible compared to some I've seen. It's more related to having over active notifications etc..

That is great! I've had similar results.

Just wanted to share that when I am in a low signal area (like at work) all day it cuts these times in HALF :(

I've noticed that all Moto phones eat battery significantly faster when connected to a poor/low WiFi or 4G signal. I've owned many Moto phones and the new X is no exception to this drain. This is just my opinion.

Excuse me for not having any screenshots, though here are my stats from yesterday:

*LTE on whole time
*Bluetooth on whole time (synced to moto 360)
*Very little gps use
*talk time about an hour
*Battery life = 13 hours
*On screen time = exactly 4 hours
*5 Gmail accounts syncing
*lots of whatsapp (one group around 25 people)

No complaints, should only get better (phone only a few days old).

Can you name a phone that doesn't use more battery on low signal?

Coming from the S5 I can say that the Moto X battery doesn't last as long. With nearly identical usage on different days the X had to be put on a charger where my S5 would have 20 to 30% left. I still love the phone but I'm definitely disappointed in the battery coming from the S5.

Update.

Thanks for the help guys. I've learned a lot from your suggestions and it has really paid off.

Installing GSam Battery Monitor was really helpful. The main culprit turned out to be a location tracking app called Life360. Once I uninstalled it there was a huge reduction in awake time and a healthy increase in screen on time. Now I can get ~14 hours out of the phone. If I plug it into the charger on my 45 minute commutes I'll easily go the entire day. I also went through and turned down the sync rates on several applications and e-mail accounts. My screen on time is about double what it was.

Here are some new screen shots I took yesterday with 18% left in the tank after 11 hours with no time on the charger. You'll notice a period of time in the first third of the graph where the phone was awake while the screen was largely off. This was time in the car using the Play Music app. I played a few rounds of Zombie GS and did a considerable amount of browsing.

Just a friendly reminder to all..

If you disagree with another member and can't resolve things politely then please don't respond to each other at all. We appreciate everyone's views and input but the side shows of bickering has to stop. Also for anyone who isn't aware you can open up a member's profile (from desktop or mobile in desktop mode) and on the left hand side you will see an option " Add to Ignore List ". You can use this option if you want to co exist within a thread but don't want to see posts or interact with someone. Might come in handy for some in the future ;)

Thanks all.

From my daily observations, I'm averaging four hours of screen time that includes a trio of games, Facebook, texting, browsing and Feedly viewing and <gasp> occasional phone calls. And this seems irrespective if I'm on WiFi or on LTE. But I'm more than satisfied considering how much gaming I squeeze in there during that time. If I can kick the gaming for a day, I'd be curious to see where I really land. But then it wouldn't be realistic for my usage.

Its crazy how battery life is varying. Mine has been consistently the same. 5-6 hr screen on, 12-15 hours total. Moto x pure 32gb, straight talk at&t network..Screenshot_2014-10-21-00-24-35.jpgScreenshot_2014-10-21-00-24-28.jpgScreenshot_2014-10-21-00-24-47.jpg

Here is my battery life. I used the phone lightly in this time span. Just a little YouTube, 2 or so hrs of Pandora, texting, email, playstore, forums, and only 1 phone call, lasting 49 secs. Bluetooth is always on and connects every time I'm in my truck. Pretty happy with this phone after a week and half of use. Battery was a worry the first couple days, but that seemed to changed after a couple charges.
