Moto X 2014 Turbo Charger

Re: Turbo Charger

Also if it was bad for the battery why would Motorola provide it with the Droid Turbo and the Nexus 6?

That's my thought. Once Moto started shipping it with the Turbo, that sent the message it's okay to use as the only charger. I use mine when I need to charge at work, and I still use my regular charger when I need to charge at home (mostly because I'm too cheap to buy a second turbo charger, and I'm too lazy to dig it out of my work bag; plus I've got several regular chargers laying around at home). With the turbo charger, the battery only gets warm until it charges up to 65% or so, when it seems to start charging at a normal rate. And even then, the battery never gets warmer than it does sometimes when using GPS while it's plugged into the car charger. I kinda figure it's new technology and it takes a while before people feel comfy accepting new ways of doing things - like when lithium batteries came along and replaced NiCads.

Re: Turbo Charger

Not to beat a dead horse---- but physics doesn't change with any technology. ANYTHING that heats up your battery will speed it's demise. But, no, we won't keep it in the refrigerator and not use our phones to keep the battery well! :-) I'm only pointing out that while the Qualcom/Motorola Fast Charge Technology has LESSENED the wear that is made at fast charge rates, nothing can change the physics of increased wear via increased heat. Those of us who don't care about a marginal amount of battery capacity loss and/or who change phones often can certainly use it as a "daily driver". However, if you want to keep every precious % of charge for the longest time possible, it still makes sense to use the turbo only when/if needed.

Re: Turbo Charger

My moto x came today and it had like 30% charge. I plugged in the moto turbo charger and it for me to 80% in like twenty minutes or so. It was worth the money to me. Glad I have another one coming.
