Moto X 2014 vs Nexus 5X

I'm also debating this. It may not be much of an upgrade over the X spec wise.

I guess I'm really thinking about the future proofing factor. Spec wise they're pretty close except for the camera and fingerprint sensor.

If the camera matters, the 5X will probably be better.

If updates matter, then the 5X will be supported longer. That doesn't mean the Moto X stops working though.

I agree completely. I admit that I'm a software guy. I like getting the Android images right away with a Nexus device.

Well since it looks like the carrier versions of the X aren't getting marshmallow I'll be making the switch.

If you can live with a poor camera and doesn't care about finger print, wait one more year and get next year's nexus

Received my 5x 10 days ago, and I'm still struggling whether or not to keep it...

Display on the Moto X is much better IMO. Especially side by side, its no comparison. Colors are vivid, eye catching. Things just look better. The contrast with pure black makes the washed out gray blacks on the 5x look antiquated.

The speaker on the Moto X is much better. Bassy, lots of punch. The 5x speaker is terrible in comparison.

Battery life is pretty much identical. 4 hr SOT average from both over 12-14 hours.

Everyday operation speed is identical. Apps loading, actions etc. Scrolling web pages much smoother on the Moto X.

5x has a much better camera. Fingerprint reader is a huge convenience. Updates, and Project Fi are the reasons I'm having so much trouble deciding...

TBH (as much as I love Nexus) I think it would be hard for me to chose a 5X over the Moto X Pure Edition. If the 5X has OIS (and a removable battery) it'd be a much harder choice.

I know this is Moto X 2014 vs Nexus 5X - but I just think when you considering the 5X the MXPE needs to be in the discussion.
