Moto X (2nd gen) XT1095 Pure Edition/T-Mobile: Lollipop 5.1 Update

Re: Moto X (2nd gen): Lollipop 5.1 Pure Edition/T-Mobile

I have the Pure Edition on T-Mobile and was able to get the upgrade by going to the About Phone menu. The upgrade did not present itself until I did that. I'm currently in the midst of installing it.

Re: Moto X (2nd gen): Lollipop 5.1 Pure Edition/T-Mobile

Does anyone know if the people who had install the soak test version of 5.1 will be able to get this newest version ota or will we have to flash it manually? It seems everyone has gotten this newest version of a but not me. Wondering if it has something to due with the soak test version of 5.1 I am running from a couple of months ago.

You should have received the same version from Motorola for the Soak Test. But if you did not get it you should still get this push (at least that is what Motorola told me when I was on earlier soak tests)... I got the push last night and have been up and running with System version: 23.16.3.victara_tmo.tmo.en.US

What version do you have?

I am on system version 23.1.28.victara_tmo.tmo.en.us

Build number LPE23.28

I wonder if installing the Soak Test version of 5.1 "illegally" without being part of the Soak Test group has anything to do with it.

Any thoughts?

Re: Moto X (2nd gen): Lollipop 5.1 Pure Edition/T-Mobile

Updating right now (Pure edition bought in the US, but I live in the Philippines). I hope this fixes the problems I ran into in 5.0 such as Bluetooth audio cutting off, uneven Bluetooth volume in Moto Voice vs all other media (including Google Now) and the memory leaks (particularly when using the camera app). :)

Re: Moto X (2nd gen): Lollipop 5.1 Pure Edition/T-Mobile

I've only had the update for less than 24 hours, but my observations at this point are that home screen redraws occur significantly less, and battery life seems improved.

Unfortunately, the rather annoying remaining battery percentage calculation bug I've earlier reported on still seems to be present. A moment ago, I dropped from 15% to 1%.

Re: Moto X (2nd gen): Lollipop 5.1 Pure Edition/T-Mobile

My update popped late morning today. Installed with no problem, but I did notice that the system cache wipe through the recovery menu took a much longer time than I remember from previous wipes I've done. It did finally finish and I rebooted with no issues, everything seems fine. Anyone else who did a system cache wipe notice it taking longer than usual, or was my perception just skewed?

Noticed the notification as i was leaving for work. Wouldnt you know that my employer would pick today to "upgrade" the buildings wifi accessibility?. So im bouncing a connection from the building across the street to download 5.1.

If you installed the first Soak Test version... then yes, that is part of your problem, and the other part is you did it while not part of Soak Test ("illegally").

My thought would be to flash back the 5.0 version, and then wait a while to see if you get the latest push. The reason I say wait, is because you might not see the update right away, but if you can flash back to 5.0 then you should get the update. Or you can keep trying to see if get the new update.

Re: Moto X (2nd gen): Lollipop 5.1 Pure Edition/T-Mobile

Updated yesterday. It seems snappier. Also, for some reason incoming texts now display on the top of the screen. Before the icon would appear and I would have to drag the notification bar down. Not sure how/why this changed but I kind of like it.

Anyone else having WiFi issues after the update? Might have to reset the phone.

I have only tested my WiFi at home and have not seen any issues. How many locations have you tried and had issues with?

Anyone having trouble, after the update, with the Moto Assist randomly thinking that you are driving (moving fast enough to trigger Driving assist) while you're sitting still on the couch?

I've seen issues with Moto assist but it's about detecting the wake up phrase and doing audio searches and not for driving. In general Moto assist seems to be affected by the upgrade.

Re: Moto X (2nd gen): Is 5.1 available for the pure edition?

For those who are running the Pure Edition and are on AT&T are you getting LTE and what if anything did you need to do when you get the phone? Looking at picking up a Moto X Pure Edition 64GB and want to make sure I can actually get LTE on AT&T, right now I can't on my ZF2 for some odd reason. APN's are correct, AT&T add LTE onto my account etc.

I just bought the PE 64gb last week. I put my existing AT&T sim in powered up and LTE worked and the correct apn was added.

If I remember correctly, because I switched to AT&T when this was released... they said you needed the newest micro sim (the one they use in the new iPhone 6). I had one from an AT&T Moto X (2014) that I switch between... I primarily use the PE, but it's good to have a backup. The AT&T model had the SIM in the device when it came out of the box.... but again, I think the Moto forum said you can use the one from the newest iPhone. Hope this helps.
