Me, too. In fact, I had a Nexus phone before getting the Moto X (2014), and I expected similar - albeit, somewhat slower - updates. This definitely has not been the case. I also have a Pure Edition.Part of the deal which made me choose the Moto X, was the promise of Nexus like upgrades. Yes, I wanted to be on the Android bleeding edge.
We should start a list of all the phones that beat us to getting 5.1. Now I read that the X 2013 will beat us.

The 2013 X beating the 2nd gen? I doubt that. The PE is in soak testing for 5.1. That started before the 2013 soak test did, and I sincerely doubt the 2013 X's soak test is going to end before the PE test does (which has been going on for about 3 weeks now).
David Schuster keeps making promises, but let's face it -- almost NONE of them have been remotely close to accurate. Double or triple the amount of time he states and you'll be closer to reality. The fact is that the updates will probably land, the only question is will anyone still have these phones by the time they do? =P
What dates have Schuster and Motorola promised?

------------------ Jun 7th
I wanted to give an update on where we are with the Moto X (2nd Gen) soak testing. We ended up detecting an issue that we want to correct prior to moving to full deployment. We already have identified the fix and are in the process of testing internally this coming week and expect to submit to carrier labs for a quick approval the following week.
As quoted a few times above... including on one of my previous posts....
To me that would have meant we would have seen this update this week... or am I reading his comment wrong?
I read that as: from the 7th, internal testing through the following week, then submission to carrier labs the next week. While Schuster expects "quick approval", we don't know how long carrier labs will take, this no hard dates were given.

Carrier labs for the Pure Edition??? What Lab for the Pure Edition... Motorola is the only one that need to accept their own soak test.... or again, I'm I not understanding this correctly?
I'll see if I can dig it up later but Schuster did post that they still submit it to carrier labs just in case.

This is wrong from a principle standpoint... you might be correct, but this is still wrong. This should be just like the Nexus as far as I'm concerned. Sure the Pure Edition has to run on both AT&T and TMO, but I never thought this had to go to either for approval.
I'd like to see where someone said this.
David Schuster
I get this question a lot about why does the US releases seem to take longer than other places around the world. The simple answer is that there is typically more certification testing that is required which results in getting lab slots which sometimes are difficult to get when we want.

So.... to ensure the Pure Edition works on the various carrier networks and that the carriers do not restrict data throughput.. so yes... we have to do additional certifications... as painful as it is....
Anybody else get the update for 23.16.3.victara_tmo.tmo.en.US?
