Moto X Style/Moto X Pure Edition vs. 2015 LG Nexus vs. 2015 Huawei Nexus

For me the big things are a price around $400, Verizon support, Verizon VoLTE support out of the box, and a better camera than the the current Nexus 6 would be the big ones to push me away from the Moto X.

The Moto X Style's price point and supposed camera is going to make it VERY hard to beat especially w/ Active Display. I'm holding out to see the Nexus and camera samples of all but my guess is I'll be Note 4-less by Xmas and I'm OK w/ that. Moto X is looking like it's gonna be the phone to get. So tough to get by that price for what you're getting...... w/ expandable storage.

On the fence between Pure and Huawei Nexus

When Moto announced the Pure I was 95% sure I was getting one. I need to replace both my S4 and Nexus 4, and figured I'd grab the Pure and pick between one of the two rumored Nexus phones.

The recent leaks have sparked enough interest for me to consider getting both Nexus phones. I think the LG version is a lock, so it comes down to the Pure vs Hauwei.

We all know the specs on the Pure, but what'll it take to go with Hauwei? I'm not sure it'll come down to any single spec or feature, but if the Nexus uses a significantly larger battery, that's probably enough of a reason for me to go that route.

If not, the subtle software enhancements, combined with MotoMaker and the SD slot would put the Pure out in front.

Huawei Nexus all day long.

"Enhancements" are bloat. SD Cards are much slower and much less secure than Internal Storage. slow, big security holes. don't need them, don't want them. Google knows best.

re: On the fence between Pure and Huawei Nexus

Enhancements aren't bloat if they are actually useful for people or can be disabled. The cult of the Nexi can get a little old. Many people love the particular moto "enhancements" because they're better and more useful than vanilla Android or anything you can get in the app store.

Hi Gekko

Is that last statement aimed at the Motorola, I thought there wasn't really any bloat on their phones, what are your thoughts on the pure/style as I am quite fancying one but the Quad display with a 3000mh battery does bother me slightly as I had an LG G3 with the same display and same size battery and 3 hours of sot was all I could get which is just no good at all, I am still considering the x play due to that battery but I know the specs are mid range but I don't game I mainly use it to watch Netflix and some browsing etc :)

i'm a Nexus guy. i like purity, simplicity, minimalism, speed, and guaranteed updates and support.

re: On the fence between Pure and Huawei Nexus

If you browse and watch videos mainly I would think the processor in the play would be totally fine plus the larger battery and lower res screen should hopefully mean very good battery life. Until they're both out we won't know if there will be differences that would matter to you otherwise.

re: On the fence between Pure and Huawei Nexus

You are probably right there, it's just that I like the idea of the 5.7" screen :) and the build quality of the play obviously isn't as good but I am sure it would be fine.

yeah there's something I like to about working with a completely blank canvas too ...

not sure I'd use the word "much" in front of slower and secure though. 64MB is more than enough for me, and I'm not one of those people that needs every song I've downloaded since 2002 on my phone, but I think you're being a bit too dramatic.

and moto assist, actions, etc isn't bloat (to me) ... not saying you're wrong though. our definitions may be different, and if so we'll agree to disagree, but I personally don't consider that to fall under the bloat category.

either way, glad us bloat free, stock android fans actually have some options this year. I'd love for when half those Hauwei rumors to be true cause it looks like an amazing phone.

re: On the fence between Pure and Huawei Nexus

Moto has a pretty good history. You can customize them pretty nicely, although I put a Dbrand carbon fiber on the back of my plain blue Nexus 6 and it looks and feels great now. Might be a tossup unless Hauwei comes in with the Kirin 950 or Snapdragon 820. Samsung chip fabrication has been rumored to have gotten an accelerated request for the 820 from Hauwei and Samsung knows how to build chips, however if they say that it will have the 820 for a November release, I'll probably go for the Moto, use it for 2 weeks and decide if I want to keep it. Red leather with gold trim and accents makes up for alot!!

That same simplicity that still means you can't change the lock screen wallpaper?

Or the lack of good battery optimization? Or poor camera software?

You also realize that many of the Nexus great ideas actually come from its various OEMs right?

Ambient display? Toggles in the notification shade?

While the Nexus is great and I agree, I wouldn't be so quick to disregard other OEMs or their take on Android.

re: On the fence between Pure and Huawei Nexus

The poor camera keeps me from going 100% nexus. Also never knowing what the Verizon situation will be. While the Verizon situation can be resolved the relatively poor camera never will. You'll always basically have a moto G with ois is as good as a nexus' camera will ever be because you'll never see quality image software on one.

Nexus 5 and nexus 6 owner here. If moto really does deliver on the camera this time there won't be a reason for me to compromise with another nexus.

re: On the fence between Pure and Huawei Nexus

In new Moto phones there's no OIS

Translated with my own brain to English ;)

re: On the fence between Pure and Huawei Nexus

It's going to come down to camera performance and speed for me. I really want wireless charging, but I'll trade it for a good camera if the X proves its worth.

This is coming from a Nexus 6 (former Nexus 5) user. Definitely need a smaller phone this time.

re: On the fence between Pure and Huawei Nexus

Which ever has better battery life and is
as good if not better than the Nexus 6 2014. Ergonomics also play in hand which one I will choose.
