Moto X - Tethering doesn't work with Windows 7

I have a Windows 7 laptop and I've been trying to tether it to my Moto X. My friends laptop has windows 8 and it connects fine. When I connect to my WiFi hotspot, it takes a long time to connect, then when it does connect it says there's no internet connection. I can go to any site on my phone. It does work immediately on my friend's laptop.

What is the problem? Is it a Wi-Fi setting on my laptop?
