Moto X vs Samsung Facinate

..according to gmsarena..

My big question is battery life. Battery sucked on the HTC inc....can the Samsung compare?
I'm sure we can mod the samsung to fix google map issues, search etc

battery life is suppose to be great on the Samsung Galaxy S. Heard early reports of a 2 day charge. I'm hoping it's easy root ro that search and maps will be downloadable. IF not, I stick my middle finger up to Samsung.

Battery seams to be pretty great....according to gmsarena:
Samsung I9000 Galaxy S full battery test ready ? up with the best as the phone should have, according to Samsung's official Galaxy S site.

nope. haha im still waiting/hoping for the new motorola phone with the 2 ghz processor. my droid will cut it until then. im just hoping not to get let down with that release. you?

Now that I see bing is the default, think I'm gonna pass. I'll go to a store and see if you can change it but bing instead of google is almost certainly a deal breaker. Why vzw why?

The Verizon Fascinate is definitely the homely stepchild of all the Galaxy S versions based on it's lackluster hardware specifications. All the other Galaxy S models (Epic, Captivate & Vibrant) come standard with 16GB of internal memory, yet the Verizon Fascinate only has 2GB of internal memory. Verizon + Samsung Fascinate = Fail!

Wrong!! Samsung Epic has only 1GB of ROM and out of that 512MB is RAM. So, take heart, verizon's version is still doing better...

Wrong. Fascinate and Epic come with LED flash, but not 16gb internal. The Vibrant and Captivate come with the 16gb and no LED flash.

Everyone is hating on the Fascinate a little too quickly. We get the LED flash that everyone was crying about before it was announced. So we lose internal memory, big deal. You get the 16gb card with it, and Froyo solves your app storage problem(if you had one and didn't root). It doesn't look like an elongated BB Storm like the captivate, and I for one could care less about a physical keyboard or a FFC.

Yes, it has Bing and all that, but it's an open platform and Google isn't going to let Verizon or any other carrier lock out its services. Go to the Android Market and download Google Maps and Services, make them default. Problem solved. If you want to go further, wait for root and delete the bloat.

I read the review, but all the posts disagrees with this supposed awesome battery life. Conflicting reports?

Well they did say they couldn't figure out a way, but who knows. I don't really trust cnet as solid review site anyway. If this is the case and it happens to the Fascinate, a root should fix the problem. Remember, the regular Galaxy S has already been rooted. Hopefully, won't take long.

ha, i can't even believe this thread has got this much attention. really guys a samsung phone can compare to any moto droid? wow, this is crazy just my two cents i would never even think about buying a samsung phone but i guess to each their own. that UI they have is absolute garbo, and you can say goodbye to google maps and stuff like that and you can pay for services that will come free to people who buy real phones :).... i would honestly take a HTC Droid Eris over that phone

the only thing verizon has going for them is the network, customer service isn't that great and this device is about the same as the other models.

you obviously do not have a clue what you are talking about. if you say this phone is the same as the rest of the Android phones on Verizon then you really need to just give up using Android. that statement just goes to show how clue less you in fact are to the Droid lineup. noobs...........

but i do agree with you on the customer service SOMETIMES it's not that great but the service is the best out of any other carrier and you would be lying to say it was not. you get what you pay for and that applies to ANYTHING in life if you have no learned that yet. that's why Verizon is a little more pricey then other carriers because its reliable.

Yes really, I Samsung phone can compare to a Moto Droid as you put it. Just look at the specs. Unless you had hands on time with the device, your "two cents" are worthless. That same train of thought is what made people buy the Storm. It was made by RIM, so it has to be good right? Wrong!

We need some reviews and hand-on time with this phone from the reviewers and blogs.

There is just SOOOO much info out there about the X, and SOOOO little available (hands-on) about the Fascinate. There are many things I'd like to understand more. I wish these sites could get there hands on a few and do some reviews...

That usually happens AFTER the phone is launched.

The X isn't launched. And there are tons of reviews, etc for it. That was exactly my point. VZW is coming out with 2 very high end awesome looking Android phones in the next month or so (probably), announced just 6 days apart. One (the X) we seem to know EVERYTHING about. The other (Fascinate) we know very very little about form actual hands on reviews.. I just want more info is all. Both seem to be awesome phones though.

+1, let the troll know. He can go enjoy his locked bootloader

Well, that's pretty funny. You have no clue what's going to happen with the Droid X ( but I do ). Yup it wont be locked too long all I am saying ( people do have connections ya know ). Oh, please keep the arguing with people higher up in the Android game then yourself to a minimum. It's not smiled at around here, well no arguing is for that matter.

i don't mind your opinion but I'm willing to give Samsung a chance plus root should be a breeze. I really don't need the extra real estate. I also like the hummingbird processor.

You are free to have your opinion but its pretty clear we've made our decisions individually. No need to come in here dismissing our choices. I'm not going to Moto X subforums to disparage anyone's opinion as I probably would be out of line. Discuss Samsung's flaws with your X buddies. The one's still in this forum appear to have made their choice.

Even if the Facinate sucks as you so believe, you can always return within 30 days.

Guys play nice or I'm gonna have to lay the smackdown on the thread haha

The SGX540 GPU in the Galaxy is twice as fast as the SGX530 in the Droid X. It has a better screen, and is more pocketable. It records video at 30fps, instead of a choppy 24 and out of the box it supports more video formats including divx and 5.1 channel audio.

If you intend to game hard, you'll find the Galaxy based phones to be quite enjoyable, especially of they take advantage of the 6 axis Gyro. Its much more accurate (you can find great examples on the iPhone 4).

The bootloader is not locked down, and is already rooted with customizable roms being cooked as we speak. The Droid X on the other hand will likely just get root, but custom roms are out of the question.

That said, the Droid X feels a lot more solid that the Galaxy S models I've held. But in terms of performance and hack-ability, the Galaxy S is far superior.

If you're a "stock" type of a guy, the Droid X will provide a great experience, but if you want to hack away, make sure to pick up the Fascinate/Vibrant/Captivate/Epic
