Moto z has stopped charging on a usb, but will charge on a factory wall charger. Help?

[Android Central Question]

Up until last week everything worked fine. Then it just stopped taking a charge from any USB. Bought new cables, tired them everywhere, nothing works to charge my phone now except the wall unit that came with the phone when I bought it. Help? Side note, when this started happening I'd get a message saying it's connected to a USB and ask what I wanted to do, I'd select charge, but nothing would happen. Now I don't even get that message. Desperately seeking power when I'm not home!
