Seems to make no sense constraining sales. They should have at least put the jack on the thicker Force. The actual adapter has a similar size footprint as the device itself and that is silly. This reminds me of HTC trying to force the USB audio standard with the G1. The negative being another attachment to keep track of and no way to charge at same time. At least the G1 had a replaceable battery
Sale will be constrained due to the lack of a 3.5MM jack. Android has options, unlike Apple. If the iPhone has no jack, some may stick with their current iPhone, but a lot will follow like lemmings. In part due to the commitment to the Apple ecosystem, so is understandable (in their defense).
Of course, if you only use Bluetooth headphones, no harm no foul I do not all the time
