I love that there is a Google Play edition I'm not sure that it's very different, but still a fun and sharp looking device for the sub $200 market.

I remember reading somewhere the play version is slower due to darvik whatever I'm not sure I just remember the play version is not better.

You're probably right because the Moto version of 4.4 has an optimized version of Dalvik, although I think people who know the difference are probably running ART.
