Many people like the form factor, and features of the Droid. If I were on Sprint, I would probably want to do the same thing actually.

I thought you can't use a Verizon phone on sprint and vice versa. I would think if it was possible there would been a bunch of Verizon customers using the hero before the Droid and Droid Eris were available.

Unlocking isn't relevant to CDMA-only devices. Perhaps you meant flash?

Verizon may have the largest 3G and coverage footprint in general, but no one carrier is going to be the optimal choice for everyone. Some people get better service in their home areas with Sprint or AT&T than they do with Verizon, and visa versa. This has been discussed to the end of the world on these forums.

A 3GS with 450 mins and unlimited texts costs you $40 + $30 + $20 = $90.

My plan w/ a Droid on VZW is 450 mins, unlimited texts, and data. $60 + $30 = $90

Just curious where I'm paying so much more.

Excuse me for not defining. For the average phone user, Verizon is typically more expensive than average. They are dropping recently, so in some areas (especially smartphone areas) it is equal.

However, I am of course paying leagues more than T Mobile, and more than Sprint.

Also, if you want minutes past 450, that's where verizon's price per minute goes up. From a chart a couple years back, Verizon is 17.3 cents per minute, ATT is 13.4, and down from there.

Essentially, I shouldn't have used the "by far" word choice.

No biggie. I think I average under 50 minutes of voice per month so I don't keep track of voice plans... of course my texts are in the 3000s.

I think in the end a carrier decision should be more about the phone you want and local coverage (and if you get a 20% employee discount like me ;-p )

Actually, no, it hasn't changed much, unless you count the unlimited plans. That is the defining factor right now, especially with AT&T's and Verizon's $70 unlimited plan.

But regardless, everything is getting cheaper overall, which is the great thing.

yeah. Think you touch top left, top right, bottom right, bottom left on the screen and it will skip the activation screen.

Haha you can use the Droid on cricket with everything working and unlimited everything for ~50 a month.

Coverage is another thing though lol
