Yea, changing the description to "Defunct" is odd. Maybe AC is planning an announcement today with new info they have, or just an admin screwing with all the people freaking out.

Well after a 20 min conversation with VZW customer care I can officially say this, either they have been trained very well to avoid saying anything directly, or they just aren't 100% sure themselves. The only bit i got was when i asked for their personal opinion if they would buy the Tb now or wait for the possible Bionic to still be released... the response i got was they would personally wait. He also mentioned the online forums typically now more than they do until an official announcement has been made.
My conclusion, none of the underlings have caught wind that the Bionic has been cancelled. But that isn't saying anything that we don't already know.....
So i guess i play the waiting game still like the rest of us. No TB for me until July 1st and that's only if we haven't heard about anything better coming out..
I did see rumor that the Droid Charge had a leaked BestBuy pricetag of $299 with a two year contract, that seems a little ridiculous to me.

You do realize that Alltel just got the "lost" HTC Merge right? lol Supposedly it is all absorbed by either Verizon (who initially bought it) or AT&T (who supposedly bought the markets that Verizon was forced to divest) but clearly some of Alltel is still operating under that name...

As I understand it Verizon hasn't even announced it yet (That was Moto at CES saying it was headed to VZW with a Q2 target date) so any such announcement will have to come from Moto and Moto still has it on thier website so I am inclined to say that it is still coming. It may be delayed (perhaps a lot) but it is still coming. Don't worry people as long as it is on the Moto site it is still alive.

You do realize that Us guys that are on the Forums everyday is a small percentage of the consumers who buy smart phones. we are about 20%. The other 80% has not heard of the Bionic yet. So Verizon will not say anything to anyone one way or the other. If we were the 80% then they would say something. They feel that they owe us nothing.

How ironic, I feel the same way about VZ. Which is why, after calling them and getting a load of BS, I bought a used Droid 2 and I'll use that until my contract ends in August. Then they can either win my continued business or lose it to a competitor.

Do you really think that Verizon Cares if you leave!!! 1 person leaves 5 more joins.. It would not even make a dent. Me I am never leaving Verizon for any other Network. AT&T,Sprint and T- Mobile stinks here. I have not had any problems since coming to Verizon in 2004.. I had problems with the other networks.

A leaked release timeline from Costco that found its way over to Droid-Life shows that the Droid Charge is headed for an April 28 release, and the Droid Bionic ? fresh off of rumors that the phone may be canceled entirely ? will hit store shelves on May 12. The Droid Bionic was at one time going to be Verizon Wireless? second 4G LTE device, but according to the Costco slate, the Droid Charge from Samsung will land first.
The entire slate runs contrary to the rumors that the Droid Bionic may be canceled, and that the device had no set release date due to issues being worked out in testing. Verizon Wireless isn?t commenting on the leak. The release timeline also makes no mention of the Droid Targa: the phone that Android fans speculated may be Motorola?s replacement for the Bionic while they worked on it. Costco is keeping its mouth shut as well, especially since the timeline was reportedly leaked from their mobile sales department.

We don't know how old the time-line is (things sometimes change literally overnight) and the reason the Tagra isn't mentioned is because it isn't supposed to be around till early Q4 for the early holiday releases. This is why this whole thing does not make sense> IF Moto is willing to walk away from all the R&D they put into the Bionic and IF they are going to accelerate the Tagra (*cough couth* Blackberry Storm *cough cough*) then it either wont be available for at least a couple months and/or will launch as with as many problems as the Bionic would have if not more.
VZWRocks the Targa was never a Q4 device. Q4 devices have not been leaked as of yet. Targa is/was a Q3 handset.
I hope that clears some misconceptions about the Targa for anyone else reading this thread.

Last I heard they were forgoing the quad for the dual with the Targa which would correlate with a earlier release since the tech is there already instead of a long drawn out wait for quad.
