Hmm. I've been wondering, considering there hasn't been ANYTHING leaked that actually suggests such a device, just everyone's hopes and dreams. Do you know this for sure, or is it just an educated guess (that I tend to agree with) based on the need for a separate LTE radio/modem at this point in its infancy? I'd love to see a GS2 LTE but if I get confirmation that its not coming, then it really narrows my choice down to the Charge or the reworked Bionic. And with the 2 full days of battery life Engadget got on LTE with fairly heavy usage, the Charge is getting pretty hard to resist.

This is based entirely on what BMX has said about the GS2 he currently has in his hands. If there is an LTE GS2, its going to be 50% thicker, with some other alterations as well. It would be shocking if it was released before Christmas.

Ha, well there I have it. Its somehow a bit refreshing to stop feeling like I should wait for that device. Did he say that on here or Twitter? I know he had one with an ATT 3g sim just to see what the phone was like, but didn't hear many of his impressions of it.

Personally, I wouldn't mind if it was 50% thicker, if it was in fact an LTE GS2. Though I highly doubt Samsung OR Verizon would want to release another LTE Samsung that completely blows the Charge out of the water any time in the near future. And in all honestly, I would expect that they'd wait until much smaller LTE radios became available so they could keep a similar form factor.

Up early to hit the gym.. got a samsung galaxy S2 to play with.. this is the device that shld have been the charge..

actually have one to play with.. as for coming to vzw? Well sadly I don't have info to say what version we will get..

For those asking.. I don't think sammy can fit a LTE radio in this device.. I popped open the rear and its packed tight.. but a thicker?

I'd bet an LTE GS2 would come in the second or third wave of LTE devices. Samsung future-proofed the hardware amazingly well so they could keep putting out GS2-based devices a year from now and it would still be cutting edge.

Awesome, well thanks for sharing all that, I missed it when my Twitter feed blew up in light of the admittedly MUCH more awesome news that we got Osama, haha.

Anyway, I wouldn't mind if it came out a year from now, by then I'd probably be able to afford a full retail price upgrade over whatever I'm about to get and pawn it off on ebay. Or, wait 8 more months and buy an SGS2 LTE for $100 or so.

Or maybe Motorola and VZW will throw us a bone and the new Bionic actually will be competitive with this device. I don't mind the thickness, I just want a beautiful display, great battery life, and fast, future-proof hardware (which is of course what's making me hold off on the Charge).

I'm just going to give up, get the Charge, and start saving for the Bionic to buy at full price when it comes out. I need better battery life than the Thunderbolt, but can't wait to upgrade until late summer when the Bionic will come out.

Thanks. But, that begs the follow-up questions. Is the Bionic then getting a second gen. LTE radio? Word was the issue was the Tegra 2, but maybe it's just the conflict between Tegra 2 and the 1st gen. LTE that a 2nd gen. LTE radio would fix? those are the choices being made now.. lot of things in play and the tegra 2 works fine with LTE.. now how u define "fine" is another story.. Moto engineering are some of the best radio guys in the business so If anyone can find a solution that gives speed, no heat issues and lots of battery it will be them..

what else am i gonna do - work?!?! and actually, i'm betting august or sept at the earliest for the Targa/Bionic. but i'm still gonna come back every day - i'm really interested to see how this continues to play out, and whether the Targa is going to: have the 1 gig of ram (without being split for the webtop os); have a Tegra, OMAP, or Qual processor; and be vanilla Android.
