Moto's Bionic LIVES!

Welp, The Bionic is no longer showing on the Front Page on Moto's Website... Rules out that there were webpage errors going on.

I suspect they will relaunch the Bionic picture on their website once they have the new design Finalized, however long that takes.

Since the Bionic is getting a new form, i hope Motorola is willing to send me all the unused Etna shells.

Yeah, you will now because they haven't implemented tiered pricing yet. The question really is when they do implement it (and it was mentioned by Verizon that it would be mid-summer), how will they handle customers that are already on the unlimited plan? If they grandfather in those already on the unlimited plan, that might be the best option. In that case, they'd (likely) have unlimited data until they upgrade/renew their contract. Since upgrading/renewing the contract is basically signing a new contract, they'd be subject to whatever the pricing plan is at that time (i.e., tiered pricing). However, if they buy a phone at retail instead of upgrading, then the contract wouldn't be altered and may remain unlimited.

Well let me put it to you this way, last fall I upgraded the line I have my MiFi on for like the third time and the last two times have been after the "promotional" (NOT 5GB Soft Cap) truly unlimited data plan was discontinued and each time I have been allowed to keep the same terms and they have never charged me for overages and I regularly use anywhere from 7-11GB of data a month, never an overage, never one contacted me about it. Now according to the website of I upgrade to the new 4G capable MiFi devices I will have to change my plan but other than that I am good to go.

Theoretically as long as you keep upgrading to devices that are considered "compatible with your current plan" you should be allowed to keep your unlimited LTE data indefinitely. of course if they want to be nasty they can make some new devices incompatible with the old unlimited plan but I don't see that happening for a while (if ever).

Here's the thing; if you sign a new contract and get an LTE device, even if upgrading, and tiered plans are in effect they're going to tell you the old plan is not compatible with the new. That's ESPECIALLY true if the tiers for LTE are different than the 3G pricing.

I would imagine they would say that if upgrading from 3G to to 4G, in fact I'm almost sure of it. However, there's a good chance that they will allow people who buy LTE phones now on an unlimited plan to upgrade their devices in the future while keeping that plan. Of course they don't have to, but that seems to be par for the course. For instance, people who had an original iPhone on ATT can still upgrade to a iPhone 4 and keep their unlimited data. If VZW feels that their LTE network would be seriously threatened by the comparatively small number of users who still have unlimited 4G 2 years from now when they're due for an upgrade, then yeah, they'll have to go tiered if they want contract pricing. But its likely that they'll just let you upgrade no problem, rather than risk driving customers away. Knowing Verizon, its highly unlikely that their network won't be able to handle it by then.

exactly. Once I catn get a 3G only MyFi or data card I will be forced to upgrade but until then I am good. Same thing SHOULD hold true of early adopter 4G devices until 5G comes out.

New possible info.

Bionic may just keep its form factor

http://www.androidcentral.com/leaked-pics-test-bed-may-be-last-place-you-see-motorola-droid-bionic

There is still hope, not all is lost.

EDIT: If you look at the first picture closely it is running stock android i believe, and the Bionic we saw at CES had Motoblur on it. So why would they change the Skin if this aint a new picture? SO JASPER, and everyone else, the hope is ALIVEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!

EDIT 2: The phone looks even wider now, is this the new improved form factor change?

This is the exact same phone that was at CES less Blur......

Why it was Blurless is anyone's guess but it's nothing out of the ordinary. They test MANY different software builds.

Go away, nobody likes you

That is nothing to get excited about IMO. They do not know how old those pictures are and reference several times that this is probably not going to be what the Bionic looks like now.
Also the phone is exactly the same as you saw at CES form factor wise. And where I get confused is that the Bionic is actually thinner than the OG Droid that everyone loved. But everyone says it looks to thick, i didnt think it was that thick. I was excited because it is thinner than my OG Droid. But guess its a moot point as i will never get to own a Bionic like we saw at CES...

I like you CK, I just don't like it when you are right...

Now, go find some info out on what the Bionic is going to feature spec wise and what it looks like!! Please!! and I will send you that money! :D

@black_man_x Is Targa the new Bionic or is it just Speculation?... Any new Info that you can share will be greatly appreciated..

black_man_x The Mobile Panda

@DroidNCState think u cld call it a hybrid.. more of a refinement to meet bleeding edge specs and hopeful use smaller lte radio

I just want to see the Form Factor, even if its just the concept. And what they are hoping to improve Spec wise. No one needs a 12MP camera on a phone, upgrade the FFC would be fine, upgrade memory and I'm Happy, launch already, Launch!!!

VZW is really lacking in the 4G phone world. Compared to T-Mobile Verizon looks like they are at the bottom of the pile, its pretty bad to be outshined by T-Mobile. Their Sensation makes our T-Bolt look like trash, their GSII makes our Charge look like trash, the Revolution will also probably be 2nd best to T-Mobiles LG. Getting kind of sad over on the Big Red team...

Crossing my fingers and hoping this includes a better/faster CPU (OMAP4) and more RAM. Must admit I'm very intrigued!
