Android Central Question

I've got ESFile Explorer on both phones and thouight if I knew which files to save I could 'View on PC' FTP into each phone to move the files but without success I guess I'm either moving something I shouldn't move - or not moving something I should move
I tried moving the entire WhatsApp directory to the new phone and the file called com.whatsapp from Android>Media location - has anyone done this or is that a better way without paying for an expensive program to do it

Usually back up is in Google drive so once you have the new phone and enter the number u set-up with Whatsapp it will prompt u want to restore assuming you using same account you back up with in Google drive with other device.

just for continuity it was me that wrote the question and afterwards I registered
I bought the Huawei because of a BBC Click camera recommendation for it I soon discovered that Google services could only be used on the newer Huawei if you fooled google you weren't using a P40 by running another piece of software on the phone (I used Gspace) but this had it's own problems so eventually I decided enough was enough I'd had an S8+ before so time to switch back to Samsung everything except Whatsapp I moved to the new phone without a problem but with whatsapp all my history is still only on my old phone so at the moment I'm moving the sim back and forward

Welcome to AC!

Put the sim in your S8+ choose back up now in Whatsapp to your Google drive , that same account Google drive out in the s21 then open Whatsapp choose same phone number it will send a code then enter it , choose restore .

I don't have the S8+, I had an S8+ and switched to the Huawei phone more than a year back now I'm swapping to the S21 Ultra
in any event if I had the S8+ I'd have the same problem switching the WhatsApp back to that phone as I'm having with the S21 (I think) and that problem is that I can't use Google Drive on the Huawei

Well if it’s impossible how is it that there are companies offer paid for services to do just what I need - also how does it work with Google Drive?
In my mind I consider that there is a file of files in the whatsapp software that I either should or should not be copying - if you can switch from most other phones and keep your data contacts History of chat etc. and can even do it with older Huawei phones then it must also be possible with my phone but I just haven’t found the answer (yet)

Its in the cloud of Google backup Screenshot_20220718-114405.jpg

I'm writing again to say I've cracked it and to help anyone else who may have the same problem
I had to save the file called msgstore-2022-07-18.1.db.crypt14
which is found in WhatsApp/Databases in my old phone - there where lot's of these files but all where dated and I think I only needed the last, most recent one for the reason I will give below
I used ES file explorer on the phone and the VIEW (PHONE) ON PC
I used FileZilla on the PC to see inside the phone and to drag this file onto my PC
ES file explorer tells you the IP and Port number to use (obviously)
now I installed WhatsApp on the new phone and did a backup this creates a folder structure here 'Android/com.WhatsApp/' for whatsApp and the databases folder - in here is saved file called msgstore.db.crypt14 when you do a backup
so I renamed my file from the old phone to this new name deleted WhatsApp from the new phone (again)
and then created the Directory Android/com.WhatsApp/WhatsApp/Databases on the new phone using Filezilla - I put my renamed file from the old phone in here
I also changed the file permissions from 644 to 755 I don't know if this was necessary but I remember having to do it with satellite TV files (in satellite receivers - back in the day)
now reinstalled whatsApp ignore to backup from google drive and this time it finds my backup and all my stuff my history is there - bingo :)
