Well I just got a evo yesterday luckily I found the only store in ny with it still in stock. I'm loving the phone since I'm switching from bb. Just curious about videos. Normally id throw the avi on my SD card and it would work but the evo isn't picking them up it seems. Any ideas? I'm thinking i might have to convert it. If so any free and good converters out there? Thanks in.advance.

If you're going to convert a video to play on the Evo, basically ANY converter will do. Just make sure you're format is mp4 and that your going within the 480x800 resolution - or just format in any iPhone/iPod format and you're good. That's the way to insure it will play on your Evo and look stunning.

I'm a big fan of Double Twist - copies movies to EVO and automatically converts in one easy step.

I used magic DVD ripper, set it to ipod or .mp4 and it plays great! I also downloaded the real player from the android market place to play it back on my phone and it works just fine.

Super - mp4 or ipod/iphone settings, 960:528, 16:9, 25fps, 720kbps, Hi Quality, 48k audio, 22050 audio sampling rate, 2 stereo, 64 audio kbps.

I originally had different settings using DVDFab, but Super cut my file sizes in half with nice quality. Other converters I used made my files pixelated and very unsatisfactory.

EDIT: Forgot to add I used H.264/AVC vid codec.

Bro DVDfab is the best, I tried everything out there n for free dvdfab is definitely the way to go, I have 6 movies on my EVO

Only free for 30 days, in exception of the 3 decrypter, passkey and virtual drive. I was going to purchase the file to mobile until I found Super.

EVO kind of sucks for movies imo. Colors look washed out and it just does not look right. Thanks HTC for a crapp 16bit screen.

Then yours is definantly broken, I downloaded 720p DVDrip of Iron Man. Looked amazing. Maybe you downloaded it at like 480p or something?

Hey some people never had a phone that could display true colors so don't know the difference. Anyone that had blackberry, winmo or other Android devices besides the Motorola Droid wouldn't know the difference either. Blacks don't look right and so do shadows. Some scenes also have color banding. I have seen many threads about it but like i said some people don't know the difference but to me it was like night and day.

So...you're saying you just pop in a dvd and double twist works its magic, converts it to the proper resolution and sticks it on your phone?
