Mr2 day 5

No Reboots!

Or complete shutdowns so far! OK, this is the first time I have installed a leak on an android system, should I manually remove the update from the SD card now that it has been loaded? Also, Android market is different than what I had before, not sure if its the old version now or if I have the old version before, how can I tell?

There are some minor issues I have with the MR2. Reboots are happening when WiFi is toggled on. This has happened four times. No reboot when WiFi is turned off. Some of the additional HTC widgets won't install. Tip Calculator for one. Also the leaked Skype doesn't load.

I've had the same issues....

This is why i am apprehensive about the update, i may very well fix the update, but it seems that some other issues are coming about with the market place. Once the REAL update roles i am really curious to see what problem comes next.

I have not had a reboot since installing the update. I also used GPS today to navigate to about 5 different places and it worked flawlessly. I'm in love with my phone again.

Sent fom my Thunderbolt using Tapatalk for your reading pleasure.

This IS the real update (unless they delay it and do a switcharoo) only difference is this is an RUU which overwritesbyour entire system and the OTA will only patch/overwrite specific files.

I'm still having an issue with 4G that I was having before the update. Sometimes while browsing or using data, everything stops working. I'll have full bars of 4G but only the upload arrow will light up and no data activities will load. I don't know if I'm the only one who is having or has had this issue, and I don't know if it is a tower issue in L.A. but it is really getting frustrating. Anyone else with this issue?
Same issue in orange county without the update....very very frustrated......q
Code:

I'm still stock and have NOT done the MR2 update. I, like most, have experienced the random reboots several times a day since the MR1 update, BUT for some reason, my tbolt has now gone 2 days, 19 hours without a reboot. I'm not using my phone and differently or any different apps so I don't understand why my reboots have stopped for the past 3 days. This is not a complaint, just an observation.

I too am completely stock and have not experienced a reboot since May 26th. 4G data connectivity problems have become more frequent, however, so Verizon is sending me a new SIM card today.

Thanks, Robrecht

I have the same thing happen fairly frequently up here in Seattle, sometimes toggling the Mobile Data off & back on fixes it but more often than not it doesn't come back until (and this is my theory, not confirmed by Verizon) I switch to a different cell tower.

It really does not matter what you do. I've removed update files from other phones before and other times I have left then in place till the next leak. It makes no real difference other than the space used on the SD card.

Settings > About Phone > Software information

There are several values on that screen altered by the update but the most obvious is

Software number: 1.66.605.2
Built Number 1.66.605.2 CL343045 release-keys

If your phone says that then you are the most up to date (MR2)

Yes, you should delete the file. The latest Market I believe is version 2.3.6 You can check which version you have by going into manage applications from the settings menu. The market should also update itself automatically once you open it. Usually takes 5-10 minutes or so

A number of people -- myself included -- are finding that the market is not updating itself until after the first time you turn the phone off and then on (not just a reboot) after the update. Either way you will get it within short order.

I waited 2 days and it didn't update no matter what I did, so googled "android market apk" found the latest version and installed it.

Still no random reboots, gps is great.

I did notice a change to the music player. There is now a vcast music tab you can't get rid of.

This sort of thing is what makes me think there is a possibility of an "updated update." It seems odd that they would release an update that would prevent HTC phone owners from installing HTC software. I have the same problem. I cannot install Fake Call or Quick Record widgets. My only reboot occurred when the phone was on 3g, by the way, and WiFi was off.

I wish Verizon marketing would not leave their fingerprints all over everything. I'm still wondering if they're behind some apps like HBO Go not showing up on Market after MR2. Or maybe it's just that the leaked MR2 is not yet recognized on Market, whereas the new one will be? Or will a higher tier of data pricing be required for some of these data-intensive apps like Skype video chat, which is also not working with the leaded MR2?

Im just curious, I see all the apps including HBO go. I just dont see my verizon even though I have it with the mr2 update. I wondering why some arent seeing some apps. I see all my paid as well even if they are not installed

That's strange that you can see the Hbo Go app. On the website it says its not compatible with my Thunderbolt. Have you downloaded it?

I'm running stock (no MR1, MR2 or custom ROM) -- HBO GO shows up in the market for me. I have it installed and it works fine on WIFI and 3G/4G (although 3G isn't very good).

This is exactly what i was think was going to happen with this update; cause more problems then it fixes. I'm send my tbolt back today. I'm not going to wait anymore and I'm glad i switch to the charge.

I feel the same way. I exchanged my thunderbolt for the charge 2 days ago and I am so happy I did! I just wish I would have gone with my first instinct and gotten the charge from the beginning.

HTC makes amazing phones and I have always been an HTC fan. I had the inspire with att before switching to verizon and that is why I looked at the thunderbolt. I was hoping all the negative remarks about the phone were not true, but they are. Hopefully all the problems will be fixed soon, I just did not want to wait since I was in my 14 day trial.
