I must be really stupid, but can so done explain how multitasking works?

I power up the Xoom, am checking internet news and my wife asks me a Contacts phone number, or to look something up on a spreadsheet. How can I do that? My old IPad handled that just fine...

From your browser just hit the home button and then go to the app that you need to use. When you want to switch back just hit the recent apps icon (the square with a top and right border) on the lower left of the screen. Your most recent apps will appear there and you can use it for fast switching between whatever you're doing.

If the app you need to switch to has been run recently you can switch back to it by clicking the multitasking button to the right of the Home button.

However, if you haven't run the app then:
1. Click the Home button.
2. Select the app you want to run (e.g., Contacts).
3. Select the multitasking button to switch back to the app you were running (i. e, the browser).

You can easily switch Back and forth between five apps or switch to portrait and and there are six. Perhaps a Honeycomb upgrade will allow the list to scroll. :)

Thanks

Thanks for the input, and it was not a bait post...

It is working for me but not very intuitive. My IPad, which I'm glad I sold, had the 4.3 OS, and multitasking was very simple. Probably the only thing I liked about it!

Thanks again, and in the future, don't be so hard on us old retired folks, we're just trying to keep up!

Doesn't anyone read the quick start guides? "Recent apps" ... right there.

Lighten up... I thought this forum was for the exchange of information, not insults.

Thanks again to those of you that helped me out, I do appreciate it.

The end of this topic.

Guys he asked for help. Point him in the right direction and not blast him like this. As you can tell he's new to this and wanted help. Review his other posts before calling him bait and everything that was said. We pride ourselves at android central to help and do the right things. Sorry your question was not just a easy reply.
