Re: Update

I just purchased a Samsung Galaxy S4 yesterday and want to put all my music on it All of my older music that has been in my itunes has been playing. The ones i have recently downloaded are not playing and its giving me the "Sorry, the player does not support this type of audio file" message. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong. I would really like to add a lot more music that has just been released onto my phone.

Re: Update

Welcome to Android Central! Are you saying that the songs that you recently purchased on iTunes aren't playing? Or are those recently downloaded songs from some other source? What format are they in?

Well I have a partial solution, for me at least. I copied all my mp3 files from my PC (running XP) to my rooted stock retail Samsung Galaxy Note 3, OS 4.4.2, NC4 firmware using the USB cable. And I got the same error as everyone else. Eveyr player I tried said it couldn't play any of my mp3's.

Turns out I had the phone connected as an installer. What I did was to turn off USB debugging and then swipe down the notification bar to find the item that says "Connected as". It should say "Connected as a media device" (MTP mode). If it's connected as an installer, you'll get this problem and none of your files will play.

That said, now all my mp3's are playing, but they're playing at about 10x speed. Again, same deal with every player I've tried (Google Music, Mort Player, Rocket Player). So what the heck is that all about?

Man, it's just one thing after another with this phone.

Battery saver, memory optimizer, and similar apps are generally a bad idea because they run counter to how Android is designed to work. I'd suggest uninstalling that app all together, but it probably has a white list option to prevent closing specific apps if you really want to keep it.

I have the same issue with files converted from YouTube videos. They were working fine then all of a sudden I started to get that error message. Even songs I converted on the Note3 itself stopped playing.

Hi guys , i solved this problem minutes ago....You need to download any music converter on your PC and convert all your mp3 files to m4a ... This is very important for newer devices like s3 neo , s4 etc... So when you converted all your music , just copy-paste to music folder on your device ... should be work as mine :)

I have a Samsung Prevail and my problem is that I have loaded about 900 mp3's and had no problem, then one day I loaded some more songs and not all of them would play. The time duration of the new song did not show up either in the music app I use. The rest of the songs that were already there do show a time duration per song. The last time this happened I copied all my songs into a single folder on my computer and re-formatted my phones SD card, then re-loaded all my mp3's back into phone and everything started working fine again.

Hey. I'v been accidently find way to resolve this problem. It's very easy, just try to rename the folder of file to correct (the characters limit)

Almost correct. While changing the file folder name to the correct character length didn't did the trick, I have to thank you for helping me think of the right solution.

I'm on the S6 Edge and was having the same issue. The files played only after changing the file name to omit certain characters such as : / =, etc. If you've used a computer and tried to change the file name to include semi colons and backslashes, you know the computer will tell you you're not allowed to enter that into the file name. For me it was the same thing. Once I got rid of those characters, the files played just fine. It's stupid but whatever works, right?
