on my galaxy s3 and my note 2 i have an issue where songs in m4a or aac format , on my play music or music player library, show up in a genre labeled " ta ". its very annoying because i am very maticulous about my music. i spent hours renaming genres so that everything is organized, even went as far as updating every song with correct album art. on my pc, all the songs are labeled correctly. its only when i sync them to my phone they somehow get put inot this generic genre. i have searched and found an app called mediaFix that is supposed to correct this issue, but its giving me an error msg as soon as i try to run it. i suppose i could download a m4a to mp3 converter, but i dont want to end up with duplicates on my pc and have to clean it all up again. anyone know of any quick fixes for this? does anyone else have the same problem? thanks in advance

140 views so far and not one response? either a lot of people are in the same boat, or nobody has a resolution? i have read several threads about different software correcting the music tags, and some more complicated approaches, but usually other information is lost as well, like album art. so i am pretty confident that this being directly related to only m4a file types, that by converting them to mp3 it will correct the problem, i will do this tonight when i get home and post results for anyone else experiencing this too...

I dont have that particular issue but I have noticed issues with genres being wrong. Im not sure if they were ever correct or not but anyhow, these days I'm pretty into screamo but my phone reports some of these bands as techno. Im not sure if the music genres are correct on pc so Ill check tonight and report back.

media monkey works extremely well for the most part, and all my music is organized properly on my pc. the only issue is with m4a file types... ( music purchased from itunes, which are converted from aac ) apple F**** everything up.... geesh

good discussion, sounds like everything else i have read, good to see the last person in that thread has a genre labled "ta" as well... and thus far there isnt an easy solution. i didnt have a chance to convert last night but hopefully i will tonight. i think that is going to be the easiest fix for anyone experiencing this issue.

converting the m4a files to mp3 files ( with a free converter from cnet ) resolved the issue as expected.the android music player binary doesnt recognize m4a file types the same way it does mp3 format. so a quick and easy conversion fixes this. as expected apple is to blame for the m4a files types, as this is what it stores all music purchased frfom apple in the cloud. orginally downloaded as aac. so moral of the story? dont buy music from itunes.

I thought iTunes allows mp3 conversions. Maybe you should opt in for the conversion everytime.

it does , but for some reason , all of my itunes purchased music, ended up in m4a format... when they should just use mp3 to begin with, like everybody else in the world.

Then use go music now. Com

I think you might be missing a setting in iTunes. Nevertheless, if you want mp3 downloads then use that site I gave you.

i use amazon and google... no problems. all those itunes purchases are from years ago, that i recently re-downloaded from the cloud.
