Music player problems after OTA update

Since the recent update, my VZW S3 will not recognize / find my music files on occasion. Sometime, the music is there but no players ts and sometimes nothing will be found. This problem happens with both the native "Music Player" app as well as Goggle's 'Play Music" app.

These apps do work sometimes, though.

My music is on an external SD card. Unmounting and mounting has never fixed the problem, but restarting does on occasion solve the problem.

Anyone else having this issue? Any solutions you can suggest?

Thanks much,

Will

this seems to be common and i suspect its media services has not yet reindexed everything yet. you can force it by going to that service and deleting the data which is a databases and reboot phone and WAIT until it reindexes. i would just wait.

Thanks for the suggestion. It's not a patience issue, however. I swap batteries over the course of the day, and it might be two or three hours after a restart when I try to access my music and it's not there. Then, after a couple of restarts, it might be there instantly. I've even used an app to rescan my SD card, but that has the same success rate as just restarting.

Anyway, I know there seem to many issues with the recent update, so maybe they will put out a new update....

Your SD card could be going bad if you have music on there... I know the Google music player had some issues with their latest update, and Google says the same thing. Uninstall the latest update and see if that helps. Google is working on it. The Android music player never worked right for me. Ever.
