Hello all,

Since the pie update on ATT 128gb model, no matter what app playing audio it is radio.com, gp music, Spotify, YouTube (I have red) the music just stops playing. It pauses and then I go to check and doesn't indicate any error. All my audio apps have no background restrictions. They all have data enabled in background. Anyone else have this issue ? Thank you in advance.

Hello? Anyone out there that experienced this issue? This has been happening since the one UI update.

Have you done a factory data reset yet? Almost always have to do one after a system update.

I don't have to do one after every system update I get thats just ridiculous. I've uninstalled and reinstalled some of the apps which seemed to fix this issue. I've cleared cache / data. Factory reset takes up too much time.

(I promise I won't suggest Safe Mode.:p)

Just wondering, does this only happen when headphones are plugged in, or does it happen any time?

I've used so far only wired headphones. Its not the headphones from what I understand. I will double check in a little while and update. I use the AKG headphones that came with the phone. Everything worked fine on 8.1 Oreo and this started happening.

Ok -- the reason I ask about headphones is that a problem with the headphone plug or jack can sometimes lead to false Play/Pause commands from the headphone remote. If it never happens when headphones are not plugged in, then I'd continue to focus on the headphones as the problem.

I'll keep you posted on my findings. I don't think it's the headphones because the music just pauses. When I have the screen on while scrolling through my music collection within any app (YouTube,Google play, Spotify) the app pauses then closes out. All on it's own. I didn't force stop or anything and I've cleared data and cache on all and didn't make a difference. Wiped cache partition no change. I would boot into safe mode but every time I've done that my Nova launcher gets wiped out when restored. Settings and all.

No 3rd party battery-saver apps or "RAM booster" apps installed, right?

So whenever the music stops playing or pauses. On my phone it says to check my network connection and try again ?? I have full service 4g LTE and now getting 5GE in some areas. I don't have WiFi on or Bluetooth so it's not that. This has been occurring since Android pie update.

Also I noticed that the on screen controls while the phone is locked no longer work. I use the wired akg head phones that came with the phone and the skip / pause functionality no longer works in them either. I'm almost ready to downgrade to 8.1 Oreo too many unexplained bugs. And this pie update was available on the pixel devices last year. Samsung support doesn't help either.

This could be my issue. While using Samsung music my songs will stop in the middle of the song. Thanks

This has been completed. I'll keep you posted to see if anything changes.

Thanks so much for providing such useful and helpful info. IDK why others couldn't figure this out. Instead automatically hard reset safe mode clear every cache or delete every app. That's not always the answer. This worked for me thanks a million.

Vj was the one who offered this solution not me.. In everyone else's defense though they are just trying to help. The suggestions you didn't favor are not always needed for every situation , but depending on the situation they can be helpful at times. You asked for help and people tried to do that. It's a forum full of people with different ideas on how to fix things. Just because you didn't like the suggestions, it doesn't mean the help wasn't useful. Just something to think about.

No I'm not arguing that but the same solutions aren't always the automatic. If I wanted generic responses we would go to our carriers tech support. There are more sophisticated and technical people on these forums so I don't expect that.

On the 8th, you were asked if you were using battery saver apps. While we could play semantics, you should have checked your battery optimization with this suggestion sooner, and you would have seen your issue last week. Not everyone says to reset your phone. I suggest everyone explore their settings menus. Especially after an update.
