Must... be... strong...

Remember when the Pontiac GTO was released again in around 2004? Looked great on paper. Huge engine, great heritage, the latest features for the time. Most dudes that couldnt wait to show off were drooling. Well, once people started taking a closer look, they could see that it was essentially a clunky-Grand Prix looking car with a GTO sticker on the side and features that didn't compensate enough. That's the Evo 3D. Incidentally, they discontinued the car a few years later.

Sense is bloated and unnecessary. The 3D is gimmicky. The screen literally looks like characters in a movie were cut out of paper in 2D, and placed a few inches closer. Bad. Don't forget some aspirin for the headache it'll give you too lol.

The Nexus is sexy, powerful, and lean.

Actually they discontinued Pontiac cars across the board.

The GTO was always intended to be a low volume vehicle and was only imported until new safety standards, that it wouldn't meet, came into effect.

Pontiac didn't cease to exist until 2010, 4 years after the GTO. Within that four year time plenty of other models were released, including the G8, which was another rear drive V8 vehicle imported from Holden.

I've checked out the 3D. . .
To whomever was commenting on the screen. Some how, even though it is technically bigger, can't tell AT ALL!
At which point superAMOLED wins by A LOT!
As for quality. I have friends with the evo 4G and can't say the quality sucks. They haven't had any issues.
3D is not worth it!

Great comments all around guys. And if anyone cares, my 30 days ends tomorrow, and I'm still sportin the NS4G. Looking forward to the update! I got weak on Tuesday and actually walked into the Sprint store, but the one here is always packed and the crowd drove me off.

Glad to remain in the family. :-)

I have both, and the original Evo 4G is superior in almost every aspect. Especially battery life! I included a graphic of my usual battery life on the Evo. My Sprint Nexus struggles to get through HALF a day. The Evo's browser is also miles better - you can zoom in on almost anything. Fonts are larger and easier to read. Speaker is louder.
Nexus has a bit more contract in the screen, which is nice, but the Evo's larger and wider screen means the Evo is easier to read anyway.
Connections (WIFI and 3g/4g) are more consistent and faster on the Evo. Etc.
The only thing I find superior on the Nexus is the weight.
(if "pure Google" is what you are after, you can download many ROMS for the Evo which give you just that.)

Just my 2 cents after having the Nexus for a month and owning several Evos.

Hmmm, you stated that your Nexus struggles to make it half a day, yet you screen shot shows that the Nexus was running at least about one day and a half. I regards to the screen size, the two phone are almost identical, so the difference should not be so great. In regards to speed loading up webpges, there are numerous side-by-side comparisons of the two phones where the Nexus beats the Evo about two out of every three times - given that they are both on wifi. In regards to 3g/4g, this update on July 11th should address that.

Oh.

Well case closed I guess.

His screen shot is from his EVO and it doesn't even come close to telling the whole story.

Congrats man - my 30 days expires today and I am still holding my Nexus S 4g. Of course went to the store a few times to check out the 3d, but the 3d effect hurts, and Sense 3.0 was nice, but I like the page transitions on the Nexus better - see more of the desktop image rather than just a spinning carrosel (sp).

Oh, my mistake. Regardless, my Nexus routinely gets more than a day with use - with light use I have gone over two days between charging.

Oh, my mistake - that would explain the high use by the display and weather. Regardless, my Nexus routinely gets more than a day with use - with light use I have gone over two days between charging.

Is yours from Sprint? Seems the CDMA Sprint ones have shorter battery life...
And yes, the screen shot is from the Evo.
(About the percentages in the screen shot: My Nexus usually has around 70% or 75% battery use for the screen.)

I was able to get pretty decent battery life from my EVO (especially after going to CM7), but for me, I get noticeably better battery life out of my NS4G.

Yes, it is from Sprint. Wow, my display is about 23% on battery use - i am using my beach live wallpaper.

Interesting. Here is a shot I just took from the Nexus. I have had two and each had screen percentage this high! (I usually have he screen brightness slider at around 60-70%.)

Maybe the update tomorrow will fix some of these issues...

You guys realize though that those percentages tell you nothing about how much power is used by the display, just a percentage based on all the components (it has to add up to 100 somehow). If you lower that percentage than something else has to raise.

Anyway, just making mention of that. Not to say you aren't having an issue, but you can't use that one stat to be indicative that it shows a problem.

Yes. They will all need to add up to 100% regardless. The reason I posted the EVO screen was to show that after a day and a half of heavy use there was still battery power left. Impossible on my Nexus. And I believe the screen has something to do with it. In the mean time, my Nexus is deactivated and I am using the EVO.

Are you guys using live wallpapers? Your brightness shouldn't have to be cranked close to all the way up either unless in direct sunlight.

A solid black wallpaper helps too.

Regardless, without knowing how much each item is drawing, not just percentages, then screen shots are pretty useless.

I am no engineer, but if you know that battery life is shorter than it should be (something is apparently draining it), and then you find out that a single component is using 85% of the power, well that is useful info IMO. Especially when you see that other handsets (same make and model) show the screen using only 30-40% of the total power used.

By the way, my screen is never cranked up to full power, and I do not use live wall papers. Black wallpaper does not seem to help. How much of the time are you looking at the desktop anyway?

You just went down the same path I was going down with my point. Just because your screen is showing 8X% usage doesn't prove it to be the main problem, it just means it drew 8X% of the power. If your phone is just sitting there with nothing running, no widgets, no background data syncing, no calls being placed or received.....basically just a dumbed down telephone.....then of course the screen is going to be using the most of your total power.
Your screen shot doesn't break down all the usages. You'd have to show how long in state everything else is for it to support any argument that your screen is bad.

Having your screen at 70% is still high for a SAMOLED screen unless you're outdoors and it's sunny. And black wallpapers definitely do help because of the way the screens work. Black = no LED's turned on = no power draw.
