I've been using "speed test.net" app in my travels and have some #'s for you all. Rochester ny. I got 11.32 mbps . In Jersey city Nj I got 21.00 mbps. And Cinnaminson Nj I got 7.20 mbps.

i hit 23 mbs in chicago about a week ago. but where i live in northwest indiana i get about 12-20 depending on the day. upload is about 3-5 on average.

Last test I ran came back great in the Greater Detroit area. Test to Chicago location.

:( I really wish I was in a 4g area. I would love to have that kind of connection speed. That's faster than my home interrnet.

sent for my fantastic thunderbolt.

Love these type of threads.. but the key isnt speed tests its how does the device USE the speed?! youtube HQ? amazon cloud player with high quality tunes? streaming video chat (U know u installed that skype leak)

I wanna hear those stories about how the speed improves your mobile life.. :D

Just ran a speed test in Orlando and got 19.48Mbps down and 9.23Mbps up. The lowest I've seen over the past week or so has been 12.05Mbps down and 3.34Mbps up. I only wish I got better coverage indoors. Most of the time when I go inside a store I lose 4G coverage and have to suffer with slow 3G speeds. Once you go 4G LTE there is no going back!

Edit:
In real world usage those speeds above have given me extremely fast web browsing, no wait on HQ youtube videos or movie previews in the Flixster Movies app, no lag in streaming music from amazon mp3 app and market downloads simply fly. It is funny how frustrating it is when I end up in a 3G market when travelling. The 3G speeds that I thought were pretty good on my Incredible now seem painfully slow.

I am in Orlando as well and my radio is constantly switching to 3G when indoors. Sometimes not even to 3G and just shows that compus looking icon. Even if Im by a large window and can see I-4 and have a cell tower visible near by. My uploads and downloads are usually way off (at least it seems that way to me).

Example: My fastest download was 11.53mbps, but the upload speed for the same test was only 2.01mbps. Another recent test gave 13.00mbps download and only 1.98mbps upload. I know its all subjective to where I am in relation to the towers closest to me, but I have let to be "amazed" by the "blazing fast speed" the big Red advertizes. At least in the Orlando area, it has not been so wonderful. Outside I tend to stay connected for 4G.

Whats the typical speed I should be seeing?

I also notice if I close out of my Dophin web browser, I lose internet connectivity. I have to constantly go into my wireless settings and click the check mark for mobile network. If i stay in the browser the whole time it stays connected, If I get a text or want to multi-task, ill come back to the browser and it will state "no connection is available". Just thought Id see if this was normal or if others experience similar issues.

Aside from that, I love my TB.

Power utilities are happier??

I have noticed that when I travel outside of my normal daily work commute I have had some spotty 4G coverage as well in Orlando (ex 17-92 has a lot of dead spots and I had some connections troubles on Colonial Dr near I-4). I am just fortunate to work in a location that has strong coverage in the entire building and I have a pretty constant 4G connection at my home as well. During my trips to Minneapolis I have noticed that I basically never lose 4G connectivity. The signal seemed much stronger, even indoors. Every market/location is different, but overall I am impressed with Verizon LTE and love my Thunderbolt
