My Apps download counter stalls (but install works)

Whenever I update apps, the download counter in "My Apps" nearly always stalls long before it reaches the download size. Then the install proceeds normally. Since it works, this isn't a significant problem, but it is curious.
I had this on Android 4, and now I have it on Android 5. Does anyone know what's going on? It would be so satisfying to see that counter reach 100%, or even close!

I think it's normal. Last two Samsung phones, Asus N7, and now my Nexus 6 all behave that way.

I'm perhaps a bit hyper-sensitive about issues like this, as our router used to drop out and reconnect a couple of times every day. Also, our WiFi additional access point used to stop working once a week or so. Both of these problems were solved by an ADSL service upgrade, but I still get twitchy when downloads seem to stall.
