My AT&T One X always has '4G' displayed in the status bar. Is it normal?

No matter mobile network is connected or not. It does not cause any problem, but it annoys me. Sometimes I thought it's on, but it's not, and vice versa......
Btw, it's on stock 4.0.4

Think of plain 4G indicator as 3G. Since AT&T got the go ahead to label their HSPA+ network as 4G. So you'll see that in place of the old 3G label. It's the LTE designation that comes under the 4G label that's the good stuff. I first noticed this crafty bit of confusion on the iPhone 4S. It would no longer show 3G in my area but the speeds were still the same as my previous phone.

Unless you use a custom status bar, it's impossible. I'd suggest you use Omega Status Bar.

Seriously? At just under 20 megabytes Omega Status Bar is bigger than Flash, twice the size of Swiftkey, bigger than the Android System core itself.

All that wasted memory to twiddle a few bits on the perfectly useable status bar?

No. Thanks.
