My Battery Life Sucks!

I have my pixel 3 xl on att and its getting in beginning 7.5 SOT 1 day on battery but lately I can't get past 5.5sot might be something with att
Well sure we can blame the carrier And point fingers. Don't quite understand why I can barely get a day outta mine but yet I see you get almost 2. I'm just frustrated. Heavy user just like you

I don't know what else it could be , that's why I'm saying maybe carrier related as TMobile Sim is my note and att in my pixel

This is what I'm getting before I through it on the charger I'm a very heavy user downloading files always on Facebook Twitter Instagram snapchat watching movies downloading movies emails calls doing it all

You're not providing much insight except blaming signal when clearly I have great service. I get signal everywhere. So on to the next..

What else can it be? , I've explained that my pixel 3xl was getting first few days on a att Sim 7.5 SoT and 1 day battery with service everywhere now it's 5.5hrs SoT, so I don't know what else to say.
My note 9 is with Aod on everything sync that's what I get on TMobile and my s9+ is getting great battery life also

Aren't you lucky.

See screenshot below. Even when I'm not using it standby drain is a joke. I have Android system set to not run in the background. Somehow still using 5 percent. I run device maintenance at least 3 times a day. If it's a rogue app it would show up in device maintenance. I'm convinced it's not as good as advertised.

First of all turn your Android System background capabilities back on, turning it off does more harm than good.

Secondly a rouge app service running in the background will not show up as an "app" in the battery usage menu, apps battery usage only show up when they are directly running.
This is a problem I have always had with Android and it leads to a lot of confusion for typical users.

You need to go through EVERY SINGLE APP and turn off its background data usage and notifications unless you need them. Do not turn it off for essential processes and services (like android system, email, sms, etc).
Turn it off for all games, bs little news apps, editing apps, etc...

Then you can accurately gauge your phones battery usage.

Example I have an app called iFunny.
After downloading it my battery started draining quickly.
Looking at battery usage it never showed that app was using battery but Android system usage went up.
I went to that app and looked. In one day it had used over 200mb of background data.
Once I turned it off and also notifications my battery usage went back to normal.

Att 512gb model had it since the pre-order and battery still holding up quite well.

This is spot on as I'm experiencing the same. Actually using the phone, the Note 9 is great, very happy. But standby? This is quite bad, significantly worse than my old S5. I don't really understand it. Overnight, even if I turn off Wi-Fi, data, AOD etc, it'll still drain about 5%. If I leave things turned on, it'll drain 10% and more. Same thing during the day. I have location and mobile data plus AOD on, and after about 10 hrs in the day after barely using the phone, it'll drain 15%.

But come home and watch YouTube, Netflix, play games etc and it's excellent. It's really bizarre to be honest. My only gripe with the Note 9. Standby drain.

The trouble is most apps no longer have the run in background toggle just says they are 'optimised', not sure I trust that tbh. E.g. you used to be able to turn off Facebook background under battery, not anymore.

My note 9 (new this week) has ok battery but not as good as I'd expect for 4000ma. One of the first tests I do is charge to 100% and leave it sitting there doing nothing, my note 9 drops a % every 30 minutes or so, really not great. Pretty much every non Samsung droid is better than that.

I am still experimenting though and will try disabling some stuff through ADB and maybe swap FB for FB lite.

You can turn off background data for any app.

Settings-->Apps-->Pick the app you want-->Mobile data-->Allow background data usage

You're welcome :)
