My camera suddenly is washed out, but only the rear camera.

I'm shooting some pictures in the same location with the same lighting over a period of a few days. Yesterday everything was fine, today the rear camera looks totally awash with light, but the front camera still looks fine. Nothing changed, at least not on purpose. I've forced quit the camera app and restarted the phone. I cannot see that some filter is accidentally on. I'm certain it's something simple I've overlooked but I'm a little stumped.
