My Droid X constantly drops down to 1X, rarely has 3G

I called Big Red and they had me do a battery pull. Its worked ever since.

It drops to 1X in locations all over the DC metro area, in situations where the Incredible never did. Certain locations are worse than others, so, yeah, it is location based, but other than this thread, I hadn't read any reports that the X should get worse 3G reception than the HTC phone, and the Verizon CSRs seem to think it's a problem, too.

I'm ready to admit I made the wrong decision in switching phones at this point, but I'm gonna make them send me a new battery and see if maybe that fixes it, just for posterity.

Do a hard reset. That's what fixed it for me.

I just received a replacement for the same thing in the KC area and I am having the same results... no improvement over the old phone, and yes mine is location based as well but I am comming from AT&T and was hoping the coverage would be better when in fact it is slightly worse. By the way mine came with a new battery and that is a no go as well, I love the phone and hate to give it up so I am thinking about going in to my VZW store before my 30 days is up and see how much they will reduce the price of the network extender to keep me

yeah i did a hard reset and a battery pull on the old phone, and, of course, switched to an entirely new phone. nothing works

its not like the phone is unusable or anything, but disappointing

I have noticed the same issue lately. I am on Verizon. I see it usually happens when I access the Android Market, and usually after I have made a phone call. Maybe there is something up with it needing to reset after these events before making a 3G connection? Dunno. I've even had the problem lately when I lose 1X and 3G, and only have bars on my phone. Then I need to restart the phone. Irritating. Factory reset is a pain and didn't make a difference. Using the *228 option 2, I was able to regain a strong 3G signal. I shouldn't have to update my roaming capabilities every other day.
