My EVO LTE WiFi Issue

I am having issues with Wifi after the OTA update at home on 2 different LTE phones. Came home with the new one today and same issue as the previous. I can connect to my router and have full bars most of the time. I go to internet browser on LTE and it just sits at about 1/8th mark on progress bar. At one point I did get speedtest app to work briefly meaning it could not finish the test but at least started it. My router is a Cisco Linksys E3200. Every other device and my EVO 3d(did) is working just fine. My LTE always shows its connected to the router but that is about as far as it goes. Any suggestions on the Router side to try?

Mine connects to my router and then drops and then reconnects. It happens all day. it is very frustrating. I took it to the store, they checked it out on their router and said there is nothing wrong with the phone. Many others have stated that they have had these problems in the past, returned their phone, and now have no problem. I am going to try using a static IP address.

I have had this problem since day 1, however it only seems to happen on home routers. For some reason it doesn't drop when I'm connected at work. It is very annoying when streaming to have the stream break because the connection drops and falls back on a snail speed 3G connection. I thought the first update was going to fix the issue and it seemed to for a couple days but then it began happening again.

Where is your router in your house?

@BigSushi

I have no answer to our issue, but I do have a Cisco/Linksys E3000. The phone history says that WiFi is on, and, I have no problems surfing the net and downloading data. However, my home network mapping software, Cisco "Network Magic Pro" says that the phone is not connected to the network. Remarkably, each time the phone wakes up or goes to sleep, it crashes the platform service of the software.

When I contacted Cisco about the issue, a tech manager repeated that it was an ICS 4.0 issue that they were not able and that they are not going to resolve...BTW, our 2 original evos never interfered with the mapping software.

Doesn't stay connected here. Always switching back and forth from WiFi to 3g. Got the phone and immediately did the update so I don't know if the OTA caused it.

Try changing the channel on your router. I had a similar problem and found out my router was using the same channel as three other routers in range. Changed to an unused channel and the connection has been fine.

It's as if the phone has trouble staying locked on the correct SSID when multiple use the same channel.

Just called sprint after taking it to a repair center yesterday. They are sending me a "new" phone, but the woman said it is a refurbished one. I'm not very happy about this at all.

So I took the suggestion of switching to the just G setting. So far, the only place the connection is spotty is in the far part of my bedroom upstairs in my house, and the only place I lose connection entirely is in the bathroom which is in my bedroom. My WIFI router is in the basement of my house. My house has 3 stories. Basement where the router is, the middle level which is where I am most of the day, and the upstairs. In the past with other phones including my EVO3D I never had this problem of dropping WIFI connection at all. Could it be that this WIFI antenna on this phone is just weaker? The G only connection seems to have stopped the dropping on the middle floor of my house. I am going to have Comcast come out and move the Modem and Cable connections to the second floor of my house rather than keep it in the basement to help with this issue. The only reason I thought the phone was the problem all along was because my MacBook Pro, XBOX 360, iPod touch, Wii, Printer, LG Smart TV, and any other WIFI device in my house have never had this problem. I am able to get much more stable connections in a public WIFI than here.

Could it all really come down to a weaker WIFI antenna and placement of router in my house?

Second part to this is that Sprint just today is mailing me out a replacement phone. It is a refurb, which I am not too happy about.

So my question to all of you, and I am sorry that this post is so long, is if I should try and see how this "new" phone works when I get it, or just send it back right when it gets here?
I am glad they were willing to send me a phone, but I just don't like the idea of having to get a refurbished phone already. The phone is barely a month old. Has anyone had any experience getting a refurb and being more than happy with it?

I appreciate all responses here.

I guess you have to take the good with the bad in setting the WIFI router to G only. It has stopped my spotty WIFI connection, but at the same time it is defeating the purpose of having a dual band router. My old router was G only and whenever I would use the microwave, it would disrupt the router rendering it useless until the microwave was finished. When I got my dual band router and had it set to both G and N it would prevent that from happening, but at the same time it caused spotty WIFI on my EVO LTE. I now have it set to G only and have not had the constant dropping off, but now the microwave problem is back. I guess I can live with it since the microwave isn't always on, but it is still an annoyance.

Anyone else experiencing similar issues?

The issue is absolutely with the EVO LTE specifically because I had both the original EVO 4G and EVO 3D in the exact same configuration in my place and neither one of them ever experienced this problem. As someone else stated above, my phone is constantly switching back and forth from WiFi to 3g, something the previous EVO's never did. It is very frustrating.

I was having the exact same problem. I have since moved my wireless router from my basement to the middle floor of my house and the problem is gone. The wifi antenna on this phone is just not as strong as the previous two evos and the people at HTC have admitted this to me twice in the last two days. The are working on another update to help with wifi signal strength. What I did was this. I set the phone to just G per some suggestions, and that actually kept a continuous connection, I then switched back to the setting within the router settings that was for both channels G and N and also having moved my router I now have no problems with the dropping signal.

I was dropping wifi at home also both when phone slept and sometimes intermittently while using...just playing around i turned off the wifi network notification in the wifi settings (there are 2, top one was checked 2nd one wasn't) When I unchecked the top one, wifi disconnected then reconnected, and I haven't had a disconnect since....I have lots of wifi networks in my neighborhood, maybe network discovery was seeing all the options? It seems to have fixed my issue, maybe it will work for some of you....
