Well, After toying with the idea since I rooted my phone a month or so ago.. I finally took the chance and flashed a custom ROM. And let me tell you, this one was as easy as everyone said it would be.

I backed everything up with Titanium backup pro, made a "stock" backup with bootstrapper, and installed RubiX 2.0.1 like the videos I watched.

So far I'm happy to say that I really like this ROM. Its my first one other then stock Froyo, but its already much faster. Its very slick and I like the small changes they have made to the overall feel of the phone. I didn't quite get the "restore" part down when it came to the apps, so I ended up just installing them from the android market and the amazon app store. I later figured out how to restore the data for a few of them. And was there a better way to set up my screens? or is manually putting your icons and stuff back just part of a new ROM.

I ended up using the built in quick clock, and let it auto adjust my CPU for the best performance. It ended up at 1.265ghz and 300MHz 15 VSEL for the low end. I'm giving conservative governor a try first, and see how my battery life is affected. I also have SetCPU and JRummy16's Overclock to use.

Thats about it, just wanted to share my experience with you guys, and say thanks for the information. This site has proved worth its weight in gold, and with out it my phone would still be on stock froyo un-rooted.

Oh, and here are a few pics to go along with my story.

Ahowe,

I was/ am in the same boat as you were. I just recently tried my first ROM. I decided on rubiX. I installed everything like you did (following all instructions and videos). I also installed the " Ginger Red theme"

I am pretty impressed with the performance. BUT, my phone doesn't benchmark anywhere near 2,000. I think it topped out at 1,500. I am only using the pre installed Quickclock. Should I purchase then other two apps you have listed?

Another thing, since flashing rubiX some of my apps will not install ( unknown error -18?)
did I do something wrong?

Third: what widgets are you running that tell you what speed the phone is running at? ( third photo down looks like two different widgets)

Last thing: is that a specific theme your running? I like the wall paper...

Thank you for any insight!

Hey, thanks for the comments.

First about my Quadrant scores, They are much higher because I have changed my "stage fright" settings. This is done with JRummy16's Overclock program. It changes some of the properties making the test scores much higher. I dont know exactly what it does, but Its what a few guides I read said to do. I dont think my phone has better performance than yours, it just has higher scores. Its kind of a work around to get higher scores. But it seems like the majority of scores you see are done with this setting changed.

At this time I'm using that quick clock, and setcpu to manage the governor. I like the auto set feature of quick clock, but I like the other Overclock program to clock it higher. I have had my phone running at 1.35ghz, but I dont want it to over heat. It ran fine but its not woth the risk to me.

About your apps not installing, are you trying to install them from the market or trying to restore them using Titanium backup pro? I know most of mine I ended up re-installing from the markets. Just because I couldnt figure out the restore function in Ti-backup. I have since figured out how to do each one manually. I dont know a lot about why your apps wouldnt install, hopefully another member that knows more can help you out.

The two widgets you see to tell you the speed of the phone are Jrummy16's Droid X Overclock (on the left) and SetCPU (on the right). Each one offers you the widget, and I have them both on there because I've been testing each one. SetCPU wont overclock by it self, its more just to set profiles to limit the CPU speed when its not needed. All 3 programs are good and offer different yet similar features.

And last, I'm currently running the stock theme that installed with rubix, but that is a custom background that I downloaded off the net. Its actually from the Moto Atrix. If you want I can email you the image, then you can set it as your background. PM me your email address and I'll send you a copy. Save you the time of finding it, because I had a hard time.

I hope I answered your questions, I'm still pretty new to this whole thing, but I'm catching on pretty quick. Let me know if you have any other questions.

One thing I just finally noticed, The camera is different. I didn't expect that to be different, but when I was on the stock ROM.. I used the "widescreen" mode to take most my pictures, and now it is not widescreen and I cant find a setting to change this.

Anyone else had this problem? is there something I am missing?
