AC Question

I have my s7 for about 3 months now. The battery performance was excellent for the first month. It would last well over a day even with heavy use. My battery performance lately has been horrible. I found that the battery performance has changed with the latest update
I have taken the phone in to Samsung Center in Morningside. They erased the device and reloaded the software. They've attributed the poor battery to bad network reception. My reception in the office isn't great but I am always on Wifi. I have also been in the same home and office when the battery was great, so the reasoning does not make any sense.

The other strange thing is when I use the original charger that came with the device but use normal charging (not fast charge) the battery takes over 12 hours to charge to full which doesn't seem right. On fast charge it seems fine

I don't know what else to do. I am using Telkom mobile and have even forced roaming on MTN thinking it to be the network

Battery deterioration on s7 exynos

Do your battery usage stats indicate anything unusual after a day's normal use?

Re: Battery deterioration on s7 exynos

Welcome to the forums. Could you show screenshots of the battery stats, please?

Merged duplicate threads.

It'd help to see more stats. Charge up to 100%, then let it drain to 20-30% with normal usage, without charging in between. Then show us:

1. The main Settings>Battery screen.
2. The fullscreen battery graph screen (which shows Awake time and Cell Signal Strength).
3. The Screen category (to see total Screen On time).
4. The Cell Standby category, if present (to see Time Without Signal).

Use GSam Battery Monitor to get the Cell Signal Strength graph.

Those screenshots confirm that your cell signal is generally poor, so that's probably the main reason. It doesn't matter if you have wi-fi on while you're in your office -- if the cell radio is still on, that will suck energy as the phone struggles to maintain a good signal. You could consider turning on Airplane Mode while in your office to turn off the cell radio (after which you can still turn wi-fi back on), but of course this means you won't be able to make or receive calls, unless you use a VoIP service like Skype or Google Voice/Hangouts Dialer.

I see my 2g signal is a lot better. Is it possible to automatically change to 2g when I am connected to wifi. I tried to set it up on IFTTT but can't seem to find the option

Alternatively is there a way to adjust the threshold so the phone would drop to 2g when there is no signal in place of trying to find 3g

First one Tasker may be able to do. As for the second one, I don't think that can be done.

I don't think there's such a way to do this, but the device should switch automatically to the strongest signal as long as your Network mode is set on 'LTE/3G/2G (auto-connect)'.
