My GPS isn't working - won't lock on to satellites, please help

I'm in the UK, my location on the maps app keeps jumping, i downloaded a couple of different gps status apps to get a better understanding of what is happening and these show that i have not got a gps fix and picking up only a couple of satellites, even outdoors. i am getting a rough location which i am guessing comes form the agps data from cell towers?
I use this for work and have asked a few colleagues and 2 others are having the same issues, could it have been caused by an android OS update?

Any suggestions or help would be appreciated, (i have tried the obvious reboot, switching location services on/off)

I find the GPS on my S2 to be very slow to lock on to the satellites, compared to my Nexus 5 or my old Galaxy Tab 7.0 plus. With my old devices, i can even get a good lock while inside the house. My S2 is very slow in getting a satellite lock.

I use GPS Test or GPS Status. I don't know if these apps lock any faster but at least i can see what is going on.
