My GS4 keeps restarting?

Okay, this may take a while to explain but here it is. I got my GS4 at around November Last year after 1 month of use it was stolen from me. Eventually the police where able to retrieve my phone but sadly the screen was cracked and some of the glass (where the Samsung logo is) is gone so I can see a tiny bit inside only the G in Samsung was removed. Today I got to use my phone again as myown but it sometimes restarts at random times maybe like every hour or so it can be in my pocket then suddenly I will hear it restart. The phone seems to be working fine other than that please help me, do I need a new battery?

Welcome to Android Central! Hard to say if it might be due to the damage that was sustained. A few things you could try:

1. If you have an SD card, unmount it (in Settings>Storage) and remove it, then reboot. A corrupt card can cause various problems.

2. The battery probably isn't the issue, unless you're noticing other strange battery behavior. If that's the case, then try a new battery.

3. Try booting into Safe Mode, which prevents all 3rd party apps from starting up.
