My in store experience

That's fine.. that's an opinion not a fact :) .

The 3 and the 4 carriers is up for debate i will give you that, historically it has been sprint until it has become neck and neck and no clear cut 3rd except for the CEO of Tmobile claiming they are now 3rd (btw i am rooting for TMobile to best Sprint). Lets not make it an argument between 3 and 4 and lets stay on the topic of the thread. And LOOK at the facts

The above are the FACTS

BTW refer to the first graph

I don't see that. I see mini smart phones for 70 on T-Mobile. For anyone to pay 200 for a flip phone is ridiculous.
I agree it is ridiculous but if you are on Verizon and want to buy a new post paid flip phone then $200 is a reality. And you can't easily get a prepaid basic phone onto Verizon post paid plan.

You can get no contract smartphones for $70 or less on Verizon too.

Verizon also charges more to have a flip phone on the line than smartphone. Why? Probably because they want to push smartphone sales which use up data which is their bread and butter now.

Sorry it isn't fact. There are 4 major carriers in the US.

And who is arguing that there isnt?

I was going to correct my post. I thought you meant you only count 3 major carriers. My mistake :).

If you mean rankings of carriers.. That I don't care about. I really don't care who is 1.. 2.. Or 3 and 4. The only people that should care are investors. I choose a carrier based on how they work for me (where I travel and live), cost, and my needs. As should all consumers :) .

Doesn't Verizon use the same cdma. It can not be that out dated.

CDMA is actually outdated technology. That is why Verizon is making the push to VoLTE / all LTE network. The same can be said as well for T-Mobile / AT&T -- They want to go all LTE one day and be rid of GSM.

It is older tech but it is very good at signal propagation. I get cdma signal both in underground parking structure and on airplane 35,000 feet in the air. LTE? forget about it.

But yeah cdma will be sunset sometime in the future as Verizon wants save money plus make more efficient use of the spectrum.

I say if it works and is reliable why change it. Although some people have been playing the CDMA does not offer very good sound quality on calls when compared to GSM.

Well they're changing it to go to LTE. Everyone is.

When will this change start and will calls use my data?
VoLTE had already started. Several Verizon phone have the feature. The minutes used go against your voice plan and do not use data. Who knows what they will do in the future.

How does it distinguish between this in a regular phone call? do you call just like you would normally make a phone call and it just uses the data network? I am kind of confused sorry.

It uses LTE for the call. You will know if your device can handle it by adding it to your account. It will use minutes.
