My lock screen with PIN pad is replaced with password

I cannot get into my Samsung S4 because the lock screen with the numeric pin pad has been replaced by a password. Entering my PIN does not unlock the phone. Reset, power off and on, clearing cache, removing battery will not return my phone to the lock screen.

How do I get back to the lock screen?

How did it change? Find the person that changed it and get them to unlock it.

Hello!
I would try logging into your Google Account on a PC and then go to Android Device Manager (https://www.google.com/android/devicemanager). From there you can setup a new password and GPS/Locate your device.
Also you can try entering your main PW wrong a few times and the phone usually will prompt for your Google Account to unlock the device if you would rather do than (or don't have access to ADM).
